Cranky Contest Issues reel not spinning, buttons dont stop

I just picked up this machine. The first reel kinda twitches, it will spin if I give it a push. Second, the buttons dont stop the reels. It does stop eventually. Also, no sounds like music or anything while reels are spinning.

Any ideas?

the game wont play till all reels are up to speed once that happens it will enable the stop buttons . it sounds like you have stepper motor problems on that first reel ,So heres what you do .carefully unhook the first 2 reels and swap the plugs or physically swap the reels be careful to note which reel is which so can put them in the proper order when finished . see if the second reel has the same issue when plugged in the same socket .if it does then you need to check the wiring for that socket with a meter .it sounds like you have a bad connection stepper motors are very reliable and very rarely go bad .radio shack sells a contact cleaner in pen form called deox it deoxidizes contacts not just cleans them its not cheap but does a great job . if the problem follows the first reel then check the sensor on the reel that tells the reel where position 1 is if it cant index the reel it will continue to try till it eventually finds it .Most times it just a dirty sensor or dirty contacts so dont give up good luck

i had almost the same issue with my Mr. Magic. Seems one of the connections on the stop board was loose.

Thanks for your replies, I did see that post. I just got it home yesterday, am going to tear into it today. I will probably have a lot of questions. Hope no logic boards are toast...if so, I hope they are available! gotta get it running by Christmas!

Ok, after pulling connetors and replacing them, now the reels all spin. The first button stops the first reel, but the 2nd and 3rd do not. When I press the buttons, the lights do not go off, like they are not making contact.

Also, I assume while the reels are spinning there should be some music or sounds, but there is not.

When I win, credits are applied. How can I get the machine to payout?

I have pulled the button assembly to see if there is an issue there. Are there any manuals available for these machines?

More of a Pachinko guy but i do know that the machines will only pay above 50 credits..

so insert 50 metals and spin.. if u win metals will be paid... if u lose inset 3 more metals and spin again.. that way u always have 50 credits
