Default Noob + Lord of the Rings = Lots of Questions...

Hi guys, i actually joined Pachitalk November last year but have only just got my first Pachinko (Lord of the Rings). So, a belated hello to y'all! I have a couple specific Q's relating to it, so hopefully some one can help?!
1- Is there a volume control somewhere? If not, are they easy to mod? There is noway i can play this past my little 'uns bedtime, it shakes the house.
    2. - There are two yellow buttons on the top/front tray. What are they for - they dont seem to do anything?
3 - The knob i turn only works if acually make contact with the silver band behind it too? Is this normal? Shouldnt i be able to just touch the plastic and twist? (this is the natural way it is turned).
Thats it for now, really happy to have my first pachinko - its looks great next to my LOTR pinball
    Cheers

its perfectly normal to have to make contact with the ring have a look through this thread it will explain lots
    http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2468
but probably wont help with volume for your machine
the 2 yellow buttons you may find were used only in the parlors for call buttons or just only used on another game in the same cabinet as yours your best bet is ask arbycoffe he would know

dont worry about the volume eaither as the mod is easy to buy and fit it will take about 30 mins maximum post a pic from the back of your machine about half way down to the bottom and should be able to tell you if its cyclic

    2. For your purposes, the buttons are not used. In parlors, players typically have to purchase a prepaid data card to get "credits" to play the machine. The left (IIRC) button is used to eject the card, if the need arises. The other button is used to get the balls to come out from the machine into the well after the aforementioned card has been inserted into a card unit that would be next to the machine.

3, Yes, that's normal for that generation of Sankyo machines. It's to prevent "auto-shooting" (people jamming something into the handle thus allowing the machine to shoot the balls without actual contact from the player).

I don't know about volume controls but many people on this board have that same machine and/or machines from the same generation and they should be able to help you.

    Finally, welcome to the board.

Yeah that should be it, but you will probably want to install the syscom volume controls because you might find it to be still way too loud even on the lowest setting.

(Ask Mark if you don't believe me.)

Thanks drcrippen, that is indeed a volume switch (and was set to the highest of 3 previously). It would be cool to have even more control over the level -
do you know anywhere where I can order the syscom volume control that chaz70 mentions? I am in the UK (funnily enough, just around the corner in Wiltshire)

    Hi Pukerslaker,

I'm in the UK too and two great dealers I have found are Steven at http://www.pachisloandpachinko.com/ and Nic at http://www.pachinkos.co.uk/

The first one sells balls cheaply and has loads of machines for when you get another (you will ) and the second sells machines, cabinets and volume controls. I got the volume controllers for £11 inc postage and they took 10 minutes to attach.

They are both 100% decent and helpful people (in my experience) so give them a visit.

[edit: fixed Stevens Link, I always type it in the wrong way around]

Superb, cheers guys, emails have been launched so should be getting the volume sorted soon. I didnt realise how hypnotic this machine would be - the combination of lights/sounds has a crazy effect (really should be working, but having trouble with the new toy sat next to me...)

Yup, its sorted it out now. Turns out one of the boxes relateing to the payout mechanism wasnt in properly. I hooked it up, and the machine proceeded to spit balls out. Everytime i put them in, they came straight into the play tray (i thought it was still broke). In fact, the game was just paying out everything i had won since yesterday, and I must have done very, very well indeed!
