do the pieces that the side levers hang above move? if so, it looks like those pieces can close which would push the bottom of those levers inward which I'm guessing would alter the path of the ball that enters from the top. could also be that they're just decorative and their movement adds interest but it seems like they articulate with something inside the center feature.

They do move. They seem like they’d allow a ball to come in from the side, even though the odds of that happening are nearly zero.
