    sorry cant make a recommendation other then the transformer i listed above.. once a machine has been modified i don't know what has been done.. if it were mine i would undo the mod and return it to original state.. that being separate power voltage for the lights and feature...

    I like the center tap transformer delivering separate voltages to separate circuits. That way, when you have electrical issues...separate circuits make it easier to troubleshoot problems.
    That being said...test yours as is. If the solenoid does not function properly...remove the light bulbs. If it works, then maybe you could separate the circuits (return to original) and use a 9 volt battery for the lights...with the proper bulbs.
    At this point, I would cycle the tire solenoid quite a bit. Not enough to try to break it, or wear it out... but enough to simulate a really good winning streak! Then feel the wire powering it. If it is warm or hot...you probably need more amps.
