I was able to actually get the top closed thankfully so not too many eyes besides looking at my bad driving as I tried to keep things from shifting. I'm glad I got that done yesterday and didn't lose my whole saturday but after working in the morning and driving 7+ hours I was beat by the time I got home.

Ok, so the machines do have problems however I THINK all but one will be simple fixes.

The big one I need help with is Fist of the North Star. The machine goes through the boot up sequence, but then the screen never really comes on and displays graphical errors. I'm guessing this is pretty serious but if you guys have any tricks or know why this might be happening let me know. The only thing on the machine that looks immediately suspicious, is this plug near the power switch is missing a wire. That may be by design but I cant tell where exactly it goes.

Akagi has a blown fuse, I don't see any other crispy components so hopefully thats all it is. Fuse will be arriving tomorrow.

Stairway to Heaven works fine except for the sound. Which is probably due to this knob being broken. Is there a way I can bipass this or do I need another one? Also on the opposite side there are 2 wires that are not connected, so I'm wondering if those are also related to the sound.

On the same topic of making repairs, is there an easy way to get access to even generic manuals? It's hard to tell what goes where and if anything is out of place without a point of reference. If any more pictures would help please let me know.

Generic manuals aren't really around but some members do have a few specific ones. I suggest posting pictures of the front and back for each machine. Maybe a couple close ups of the back splitting 50/50. Members owning or familiar with the setup may spot issues to aid you further.

Adventure with these machines have been rough 1 of the akb had a bad cell so I replaced it with the other alb cell I picked up. And now for the new one the center piece doesnt go back up how it should. LMAO time to tackle this after I get some sleep I guess.

I'm going to grab my good camera from work monday and post more detailed pictures. I won't have time this weekend to work on them much more besides switching out the akagi fuse when it arrives

Some good news! The audio issue on Stairway to Heaven was easily fixed by removing the broken adjustment knob and just putting the wires back together. However...I now understand why it had an audio knob added in the first place. I'm pretty sure my neighbors were ducking for cover when I started the machine and is EXTREMELY loud the whole time. The audio knob doesn't seem too complicated so I'll be getting another one asap to control this beast. I havent had much of a chance to play since I just got it fixed late tonight and didnt want to cause any complaints.

I realized I didn't talk about Magicape at all in this thread, which I should have since it has been the best behaving of the pachinko so far. The only problems are cosmetic with a cracked glass and something jamming the door from closing all the way. The cracked glass is unfortunate but its not noticable when you are actually playing. You try to get the ball past the trees and down into a center rotating feature. The feature is fairly easy to get and goes on for a good while as long as you can keep landing balls in the right hole. I will be taking some video of all the machines at some point, but this is a promotional video that shows the gameplay: https://youtu.be/nToUe9k9kAM

Going into Legend of Akagi, after replacing the fuse, and hitting the power there was a not good pop and the very clear smell of electrical problems. After sniffing around, it appears to be coming from this board that sits directly behind the launch knob.

Now I can replace the capacitors, but is there anything else I should check before I try to power it on again? Also is it worth it to replace these, or do you guys think the whole board/machine is toast? I'm not sure what caused this since it obviously its been off for awhile, but if there is hope in replacing these capacitors then I will give it a try. I am almost 100% sure it was this board since this was the only thing that smelt like smoke.

Magicape is a hanemono; they definitely age better than digipachi! Both mechanically/electronically more reliable and the gameplay hasn’t changed much since the 80’s; but still good fun! Excellent cell swapping options for that frame too.

Good luck with the others, burning smell is not a good omen for that machine!

Are 2 of the 4 you got now broke?

I’d be demanding at least some free balls at a certain parlor!

Come to Charlotte and I’ll sell you a nice working machine without all sorts of issues and defects!

Ended up getting 2 and a half (cell) and he got the other 4. But yeah either way we still got good prices even with them being in **** condition. You get what you pay for.

But yeah I'm right outside charlotte myself so I am definately potentially down to pick up more machines in the near future. About to be picking up a garo next month from leo but I'll definately make 100% sure this one isnt in remotely similar condition to the others.

I'm in the salisbury area about 45 min from Charlotte but I go to the concord area basically every other day so a trip to charlotte is barely out of my way

Sorry, got confused thought I was replying to Mooseman… I think he’s in the same boat as you with a couple of duds. I don’t have any AKB48 machines and only one idol group machine; and I’m certainly not selling it as I just got it! Highly recommend though

There’s many disobedient ninjas that require strong discipline with a good hard spanking from time to time… The idol group only comes into play during fevers; mixed in with spanking activities. But it’s 90% spanking related.

1/28 odds; so constant action; perfect machine for home use. Senran Kagura, Queens Blade, and Ikkitousen cells fit too!

Haven’t noticed any bunnies yet; the one girl that resembles bunny like just has a weird mouth in her hair (and doughnut) and is constantly eating lollipops.

I recommend Rio 2 for bunny action!
