    Default Greetings from Charlotte, NC

Happy belated Christmas and almost new year everyone!

As we were cleaning out the attic to put the Christmas decorations away we pulled out this 1977 Kyoraku "Birds Nest" in the original box that we acquired from my father-in-law. In 2017 I reached out to William (Bill) at pachinkorestorations.com who was a great resource of information on the unit, about restoring it. I hope he's well and still in business. May be some of you can tell me? May be he's active here? He quoted me his prices but we decided against restoring it at that time.

Anyway, it's been sitting around the house for some time now and we're contemplating its fate. Does this unit have any value? I've looked at sales of similar units circa 1977 and the values run around $270 to $280. What value would any of you place on this unit in it's current condition?

Is it worth restoring or will we ruin the patina? I know some items - usually old cars - can oddly be worth LESS if you restore them in any way.

Thanks for your time and I look forward to getting to know the Pachinko community.

    -Ron

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your vintage find. I can't put a value on your machine, but if it was mine, I'd clean it up and just have fun playing it.

I've purchased over 30 machines off eBay in the last 3 years...so...IMHO...

It is an attractive machine, and looks to be complete. But the water stains on the playfield are a minus.
On the other hand the original box, and balls if you have them are a nice offset for the water stains.
With todays eBay prices, $275 or so would be about right. I personally don't like auctions, but in this case an auction might make sense as it is interesting enough that you could get a bidding battle going.

With not much effort it would clean up and look good if you take Sparky's advice and keep it!

    WELCOME!!!

I moved your thread to vintage pachinko so hopefully more people will see it!!

Except for maybe really really old ones, restoring a pachi will probably only raise its value!!

    and biscuits

Keep it . clean it up put on some 2x2 wooden feet on the bottom , get some plastic food bowls with lids that Glad has at the supermarket if your balls that came with it are rusty buy some "Retired" smooth pachinko balls from eBay . with the vintage you can play with the lights working or just have fun with it like I did with my First Real Vintage pachinko machine way back in 1977.

Thanks so much guys. The machine says it came with 300 balls. My wife, in her infinite wisdom, stored them separately somewhere in the house and now we can't find them. (They're here somewhere, just need to track them down)
