nishijin pachinko parts

I have a nishijin pachinko machine and it has a couple of parts missing. The plastic tray circled in red and a metal piece directly below it. I think I can 3D print the tray but I don't know what the metal piece does. Also one question about the plastic tray, Why is it a tray at all. Couldn't it just be a chute so the balls go directly to the bottom? Thanks

I think I might have figured it out, The tray allows the balls to recycle and the metal piece keeps them from stacking up. Would it work without this metal piece or should I print one of those also?

Thanks Mopar. Would anyone have a close up photo of the metal part (or a link to a photo)? Particularly one removed from the machine, so I can get a better idea of how it works. I'm pretty sure I can make something work but I all I have to go from is that one photo.

The Red circle located top left of your photo is actually 2 seperate pieces.
