Default Additional Exterior Light Effects for a Pachinko?

I searched the modifications back threads thoroughly, but couldn't find anything pertaining to this topic.

Essentially, I recently purchased my first machine (a Daiichi Hyperpassion), and am thoroughly enjoying lights and sound.

So, if some is good, more must be better!

I've got the machine nicely installed in my bookcases but there is an air-gap on either side of the machine. I thought I might be able to add some strobe strips to either side. Possibly even have them light-up during a fever?

Would it be possible to wire additional light effects to the pre-existing wiring?

Without any electronics or electrical experience, a machine that is labelled in a language I can't comprehend, and a very basic understanding of the properties of electricty.. well, what could possibly go wrong?

If there are outputs for a battle counter. You might be able to use them. But please don't ask me how.

Well, I checked the innards of the machine, I couldn't find ports that looked similar to stereo ports. I did find a number of two pint coloured coded electronic ports as well as a telephone jack. So I assume my pachinko can get dial-up.

Have a look on youtube under battle counter installing. Can't post a link as I'm currently mobile clam.

Thanks for the tip! I found the video you mentioned and that certainly helps give me an idea. However, I was thinking more along the lines of adding lights rather than the whole battle-counter. I'll keep looking to see if it's possible

You should be able to trigger those from the battle counter outputs using a relay to switch the power to them.

If you can post a clear photo of the two pin output terminals on your machine, and any Japanese writing on the labels near them, we should be able to determine which one to connect to, and the type of circuit you will need to use with them to attach your choice of lighting effects units.

While digging around the board for something else I came across this link to Compirate's site.

    Pachinko Battle Counter

If you can find the details for your frame, there is no reason that you couldn't use it to trigger external lighting, On start gate or bonus..etc.

I think your find the employee of the month hasn't been updated in awhile

I added flashing LED's to an old Nishijin. It's the only machine I own.

All I did was find a little flashing circuit with a bunch of lights on it, and cut off the button switch. I then soldered the contacts onto two wires that close a circuit inside when a ball goes through, and this meant I had a closed circuit to set the LED's off.

This is the full thread of what I did to the machine,
    http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/vint...-nishijin.html

Here's the video of the lights
YouTube - DX Nishijin Flashing LED Payout Mod - Final Revision

All you need to do is find a switch inside somewhere (probably wherever the main payout is) and link wires to that, then have the wire leave the machine and onto the lights or whatever you want externally.

Oh that Employee of the Month! Strangely, I would imagine she's held that award since 2006 for some reason.

Thanks for the assistance Ash! I'll be certain to check through it!

I was just thinking, I surely can't be the only person who's thought to add additional lighting? Since this forum sort of specializes in "after-market" pachinko features and add-ons, I wonder if there is any interest in developing a lighting kit that can be added to machines of different types?

Alright, so I became distracted and decided I was going to try and design an automatic ball return first. The plan was simple enough but didn't execute very well. Initially I had a funnel and some pvc tubing directing discarded balls out of the cabinet bottom and back to my tray area. However, the angle of the tubing prevented a smooth return and the funnel never successfully caught all of the balls. I tried looking for a square funnel but couldn't find any. Now I'm sort of reluctant to make any further modifications as I got a bit drill crazy over the weekend.

The best idea is to make a funnel/hole in the bottom and have all the balls fall into a tray. You can then pour the tray contents into the top hopper, save a few handfuls for gameplay. I think that's the most popular method. Check out custom cabinets made by users here for an idea of where they have holes and funnels and trays.

As for a lighting kit, it's so subjective that not everyone will want the same as you.

Yeah, I've already got a set-up similar to what you described, the problem is that I've got it stuck in my head that the ball return should be as entertaining as the game itself. I just can't help thinking there's potentially an awesome Rube Goldberg machine hidden in the physics of the ball return..

As for the lighting, I'm sure you're correct, it's such a niche market that I suppose it wouldn't be worth it.

A rube goldberg ball return would be fun but it might be too fun and take away the attention of the pachinko fun.

Well, I suppose I'm not a purist, I might change my tune when I find a second machine I like...(I'm already looking, these are rather addictive).

In other news, I purchased a remote starter:

    http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/product_detail.jsp;jsessionid=NtTLXhPLj6g2SyRJdDvWyBgDbvnyjY jQrmz1M7DHnKW2pThcxclQ!-304997602?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524443308443&bmUID=12947985 71149

I use this in addition to a power switch, right now I'm just testing to see whether the transformer on my pachi still heats up when I use the remote.
