Default 1st Pachi - Nishijin C - on the way

OK, so I passed on the basket-case arepachi and got this one instead. My main goal was to get a good, pretty clean, reliable machine that might just need some freshening/polishing to be nice. I also wanted one that had some visual interest in color and features.

Soooo...here's what I got. It should arrive next week. Anyone with any insights on this model -- please share! All I know without seeing it in person is that this gen is late 70's vintage I do believe. No idea on the whole clown and minature faces deal. I was able to get very high res images of both front and back. Zoomed WAY in and all looks pretty darn good and clean to me.

    Thoughts??

    Ken-

    Welcome to PachiTalk!

I am a newbie to the forum as well, but became additcted to these machines quite some time ago.

The machine in your photos looks very similar to one I have (see photo). I liked it because the cell had a lot of color to it and the character in the center was funny. The backs of our machines are nearly identical, while the fronts differ somewhat. Yours has "all 13" in the upper right while mine has "all 15". I believe this number refers to the number of balls paid out when you get a jackpot.

Another neat feature in this machine is that it is one of the first to use a basic circuit board. The board is used only to connect the lights to the switches, nothing else (there is no logic functionality).

I was unable to find an expiration sticker anywhere on mine, but based on all of the machines I have seen, played and restored, I would guess that our machines date somewhere around 1978 or 1979.

After studying the back of your machine closely, it looks like there is a lot of balls jammed up in the winning ball exit path to the tray. Shouldn't be too difficult to fix, but it may indicate that some work will be needed beofre you can play it.

May I inquire as to where you purchased the machine from? Was it from Craigslist?

I look forward to seeing more close-up photos once your machine arrives.

C models are the rarest of the series, shortly after they were released the early electronic models were issued and were so popular that the Cs were discontinued relatively early in their production.

Does rare translate to value in this case?

I did a little photo editing to show the playfield a little closer - see photos. Ours do look to be much the same. Can't wait to get it and start messin' around with it.

Jacksje4 - I did get it from Craigslist. Did you see it there? BTW, yours has a really nice looking playfield. I really like the color scheme.

Yes - Craigslist. This one came from an estate sale. Three Pachinkos for $50. One was used for parts, the other two I restored.

    Gotta love craigslist!!
