Default Help! Vintage Sankyo wiring has me puzzled.

I have a 1970's Sankyo Pachinko titled Derby. It's in good condition and plays well. I recently built a cabinet and now FINALLY have a good place for it. I'm giving it a thorough cleaning and I would like to restore or enhance the lighting.

The wiring scheme is driving me nuts (short drive) but I would like to understand it. I'm attaching a pdf with color-coded lines to show the wiring scheme, and I'm attaching a few photos to show the game and the actual wiring harness. The harness has a 4-pin connector (the female end), with 3 wires (red, black and yellow) and one open pin. There is no matching male connector for the power supply. My questions are as follows:

    1. Is the yellow wire (with fuse) the ground and the black wire hot? Is the red wire hot, neutral or did it go to some other control board in the pachinko parlor?
    2. I bought a 9v transformer and I would like to enhance the lighting to add more lights around the playing field for jackpots. Wondering if I should try to use the existing wiring harness or start from scratch?

ps. I'm not terribly skilled with electronics but I was able to run continuity tests and all wires, bulbs and switches are good...just need a new fuse.

This is a great forum...I've picked lots of information from y'all. Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom.

I have that same machine, which needs rewiring. When I get around to it, I will do it like the image below, and run it with a 9v battery. Excuse me for taking liberties with your image.

Kconrad if you want to use your wiring, you can connect your battery to the red and the yellow-white wire. Ignore the black wire. This one is probably use to activate a light in the parlor if the machine hopper tray is empty, something that should not happen in a parlor.

Here is your wiring, redraw, maybe it can make more sense for you this way

Thanks for all the replies and good information. I focused on the yellow and red wires and it works great. Fun to see the machine light up after all these years!!!

As all have said, it's yellow and red (poet, don't know it). In the parlors, these older machines were powered by 8VAC.
