Default Hello - THANKS! ...and pics of my Nishijin.

1st - let me say THANKS - this forum has answered so many questions I've had about my Pachinko machine.

It's an old (Dec 1970) Nishijin that I got as a Christmas present when I was a kid. I can't remember what year...probably '75, '76? Anyway, I loved it then, and tinkered with it a bit (probably responsible for the water damage - ). Eventually, it ended up in my parents attic, and it just resurfaced this week.

My wife isn't exactly thrilled with it - but my 7 year old daugher and 3 year old son LOVE IT!

OMG, this is so true. I already bid for one I saw on e-bay - shipping just kills the deal though, so I'm going to keep my eyes open for any that become available locally.

Thanks Eddie - and yeah, I saw that thread - as well the one detailing your Jankyu resoration - most impressive!!

One interesing thing about my macine is that it came with 'old' balls and 'new' balls. As a kid, I was always facinated by the old balls as they had an interesting crown design. The new balls were all shiney and had SK written on them. I'm guessing the import company added the SK balls to any machine that didn't have enough original balls included? ...just a theory. Of course, now the SK balls are starting to look old...(like me - ahhh!!!)

Based on the tags it has 48 (the year) and 12 (the month). The 48 would be SYOUWA 48 in english 1973. This makes sence because a license was only good for three years. So unless the machine was pulled early it would have hit here in 1976.

Regardless of what your wife thinks, you have a fine machine. It's nice to know its being used to corrupt a new generation. LOL

This is exactly how I started this hobby. Dug out my vintage 1970's Nishijin, Cleaned it up, found this site, and the rest is history. 9 pachinkos and picking up another tomorrow. (just since Nov.) :whine: Will the addiction ever end?

I got the lights working last week. I was really surprised that all the original bulbs still worked - it was just a matter of soldering a few wires, and attaching a power supply (12v transformer from Radio Shack). I also added an extra payout light - more bling! ...i will try to post a few pics when I get a chance.

BTW - I think I have been driving up the prices of vintage pachinko machines on e-bay. I've been bidding on most every decent machine I've seen over the past couple weeks. There are a lot of interesting ones for sale. Of course, it seems that on close inspection, some may be missing parts...but I'm sure that eventually I will pick up another one.

Thumbs up Re: Hello - THANKS! ...and pics of my Nishijin.

I just joined PachiTalk today after purchasing this exact same machine at a local garage sale. I'm built a full standing cabinet for mine and purchased 1,000 balls for it. My wife didn't like the idea originally, but after I got it all cleaned up and set up in the cabinet she sat and played it for over an hour!

My machine has the exact same date stamp as yours. It was my understanding that the date stamp indicated the EXPIRATION date not the manufacture date thus our machines have an expiration month/year of 12/1973 which puts the manufacture date at 12/1970 if you use the standard 3 year replacement rule. This date calculation put it in the right time frame for when you first received the machine.

I saw that someone posted the name of the machine as Castle. I am curious if there is a story behind this machine and the symbols on it.

Here's what I know and please confirm. The side 'tulips' open themselves and only the lower middle tulip. The top pocket opens the jackpot tulip and the lower middle tulip only. The pocket just below the jackpot only opens the lower middle tulip. The two blue pockets at the bottom only pay the jackput and doesn't open anything else. Does your machine work in this manner?

As for the lights... I went to radio shack and purchased some 9vt screw in lamps and put them in. Then I found an old transformer for some device I used to have (I never thow them away for some reason) that put out 9.5v and wired it all in. This works great and makes it so I don't have to use batteries to light her up.

Ok.. enough for now.. but thanks for posting and I hopefully we can find out a bit more about our machines.

    later,
    Rusty Key
