    NO!!!!!!!!!!!

Please don't start anymore journals until I know if I can move the existing journal database over to the new 3.6 vbulletin software. There is a major question about this as the guy who wrote the journal converted to milliongodism.

    ACK!! Sorry boss!

I go sit in a dark closet.

Tulsa, does this mean I should stop adding videos to mine?

Hey guys, just add them to the museum for now until we get the journal figured out.
Besides that's where we want them anyways. Makin the Museum bigger, better, faster.

That's a really good idea, moving it all to the museum. That's really where it needs to be anyway.

Time for a new category, Members Machines. A place where they can showcase their machines with pics and vids.

With the advance of the codecs, how big are the vid files these days?

Okay, the museum it shall be.

The size varies from about 100 meg on down for MPG. I've been converting mine to WMV and trying to keep them to about 35 meg max, but not always able to.

It all depends how it is captured. I know in windows movie maker I converted a 6GB AVI to a WMV (high end broadband setting of 512) down to 127MB. but that was the top of the 3 choices 340k brings it down to 84.5MB and the lowest setting 150k brings it down to 37.3MB.
This program is very usefull and is built into WinXP.
We can still do the linking in the museum just like we do here on the board. It'll save the space on the server. We just need to have the stuff in there, so everyone can find it.

Has anyone tried using the divx codec? I've read good things about it and final file size.

I tried using DIVX Codec on a few videos, the trip to Arby's. I really couldn't tell much difference in the size between those and WMV files.

Big difference between DIVX and MPGs though, as between MPGs and WMVs.

I just checked and the DIVX conversions aren't much smaller than the MPGs.

Of course, I may not have done the conversion correctly.

nope DIVX is good but WMV is smaller.
DIVX has a better quality of course, but it's almost twice as big as WMV.

Divx also requires a divx codec, usually for the .avi file type

When I was using Putfile for uploading videos I used DIVX to fool their system into accepting videos because of some weird technical problem they had.

But I dumped DIVX a long time ago since Youtube.com became the place for pachi videos.
