Default New to Pichinko & Pachislos

    Hello,

I'm a newbie & have just become interested in these machines. I have been doing a bit of research by reading through the many posts here & looking at all the various websites.

Being a big Gerry Anderson fan, I really want to get both of the Thunderbirds machines (Pachinko & Pachislo). I also like 60's pop art/animation, so the Speed Racer Pachislo is very appealing to me as well.

Are the Pachinko & Pachislo Thunderbirds the same size? I want to put them side by side when I get them. Does the Pachinko really require a cabinet? Also, is it possible for one person to lift & carry one safely or do they require two people?

    Cheers,
    Jim.

All the Pachinkos are the same size. The games don't require a fancy cabinet and are shipped normally with a frame around them. Yes, one person can lift and carry a machine.

How about a Pachislo machine? Can one person lift & carry it on their own?

    MrJim,
Apx. 85lbs. for the Pachislos. Can be carried by one person.
Most of the machines will have "Carry Handles" Cut -outs on the sides.
Being that they are heavy, once it is in place. I would suggest "Through bolting" the machine to its base cabinet ( espically if you've got children around) to help eliminate the possibility of tip-over.

    Welcome to the forums.
A pachislo weighs about 80 lbs and can be lifted by one person.

Sure, you can carry one. They weigh around 90 pounds, but they are a bit awkward. I hauled all my Pachislos downstairs to the gameroom by myself with no probs. If you have a bad back, get some help.

    Cool, thanks guys

I only ask as I live on the top floor of a 3 story flat. I hope I'm lucky that the delivery man will help me get them up the stairs!

I'm going to order the Thunderbirds machines tomorrow from www.pachisloandpachinko.com. I spoke to them this afternoon & they were very helpful. I also had a good email chat with Nik Percival last night & he was very helpful as well.

Its great to find so many helpful people in whats going to be another hobby for me! I can see how addictive its going to be. I'm already imagining my small bedroom being converted into a gaming room

Pachilso and Pachinko are different sizes. Pachinko are wider but Pachislo are deeper.

Thanks, dalto, for the correction. I mis-read the post above.

Yes, Pachislos and Pachinkos are slightly different sized. As far as height goes, the Pachinko is about 31 1/2" high and the Pachislos are about 32" inches high with the cabinet. Pachislos are slightly narrower than the Pachinkos.

On Pachislo machines basic gameplay is very simple. Anyone can hit the buttons and make the thing work. At the same time play can be more complicated once you know what you are doing and understand the signs.

If you get the delivery guy to help you get them up three flights of stairs let us know! It may be a first! Most of the time they wont even carry them up five steps to put them under a covered porch when it is raining outside.

My delivery guy helped me carry my last machine all the way downstairs and then helped unbox it to make sure it was in good condition. Lots of nice people in Iowa.

    Hello Again,

I just got my two Thunderbirds machines today (from Steve 777)

The delivery guy helped me to carry them upstairs to my flat which was really cool of him. So I gave him a tenner for helping me out. I'm nice like that

The machines arrived in mint condition & I have just set up the Pahinko one. Its beautiful, it really is. The lights go all flashy etc. It all seems to be working fine. Steve indicated where the two volume switches are at the back, but they don't seem to lower the volume. Are they really volume switches or something else? A difficulty setting?

I'm going to set up the Pachislo once I have figured out the Pachinko properly. I'll let you know how I get on.

    Cheers,
    Jim.
I come & go as I please (only if I really want to).

Hello Jim, Steve's a good man isn't he, I've also just bought a Pachislo and Pachinko from him (I'm eagerly waiting for the Star Wars Pachinko to arrive as we speak). The noise of the machines has been discussed in loads of other threads - your best bet is to do a search under volume control. I'm still new to all this, but from what I understand there are only a few machines where the volume controls actually work to any great effect. If you pick up the other threads, they'll give you some idea of what you need to fit and how to get a more effective volume control. I hope you enjoy your machines (which it sounds like you will)!

    Thanks Mike.

The volume is okay on the Pachislo & isn't so loud as the Pachinko. I love both machines, but the Pachinko is really loud! I think I'll try the cotton ball technique tomorrow

As for the Thunderbirds Pachislo, the coins won't pay out & it gives me credits instead. How do I make it pay out in coins?

    Cheers,
    Jim.

It will payout once you go over 50 credits. This can be switched but I would recommend you play it like this for a while because putting the tokens in one at a time can be a little painful. Also, once you hit a bonus round you will payout tokens all over the place.
