    Default Pretty Band screen fault

Heading says it all. Black line appeared near top of screen across the width. It is Black, not grey, as if there is no power at all to it. I'm assuming either screen fault or driver board. Checked connectors.

Any suggestions? Economical repair?? (assuming I can find relevant replacement).

Christmas Day and this game is the kids' favourite. Bummer.

Do you have a warranty from who sold you the game?

Maybe they have another video board you can swap out to narrow the problem source.

It appears to be a video board display adjustment or repair.

Perhaps one of our vendors will make a suggestion as to a remedy.

If it was working and just appeared, I'd think it was the board controlling the video display.

It could be a RAM fault on the video board, but I'd think that it is unlikely. With these symptoms the main suspect is a fault on the LCD panel itself. I've fixed faults with these symptoms before, but it's the sort of thing where you can't promise that you'll get results, as some LCD panel faults are not economic to repair.

If you can't get a replacement from the seller, then let me know and I can take a look at it for you (I'll only need the cased display board/LCD panel set, as I have a game to test it in).

    Thanks for the replies.

Having had a closer look (in daylight) I'm a little more sure that it will be a broken panel. I used to deliver replacement mobile phones that often had the same thick black line across their lcd screen where they appear to have filled up with black liquid. This looks the same.

A replacement from the vendor is unlikely (although I'll contact him to see if he hasn't sold the other PB he had a little while back; it may be cheaper to buy a whole game and keep the spares).

Daverob, do you have replacement screens?? I can take out the damaged one for test but I'm not too hopefull........Notice you have a PB too ;-)

    Thanks in advance.
