Default how far for a 40's vintage pachi?

hey guys. I'm in provincetown, MA, for a couple nights rest after my work conference in boston.

yesterday, I used search tempest with a 250 mile radius and found 2 vintage machines from the 1940's in new york for $80. they were listed early september, but had not sold yet. one buyer was asking them to be shipped to ohio (anyone here?).

well, after a lot of begging the wife , we drove from boston to provincetown, via armonk, new york. that's about 6 1/2 hours out of our way...and we hit heavy traffic coming out of new york...

I am totally thrilled and will spend part of tomorrow finding boxes, tape and stuffing to ship them home. the drive was really beautiful, trees starting to change color, weather was perfect (like being in california!)

below are a couple quick pix with the iPhone in the dark. I'll post better ones when I get them out to pack.

machines came from japan with this fellow's wife's father. he actually thought they were from before WWII, but I don't know if they made many then? compirate, have you seen this one? I think it was matuya or matoya?

there are 2 of the same machine, so I will have one for comparison if the other doesn't work. they look complete, though, and the cells are in good shape. they have a cast aluminum mini-tray with a spout to drain them into the lower tray.

more detail to follow when I get them back to california, but I just had to share about my lastest find!

95 can be a bear depending on the time of day! You aught to try the Cross Bronx on a Friday afternoon

Still Masamura Guage, so I'd say 50's, but they look to be fully automatic (winnings come out in upper tray?), which I thought came out later.

    Any stickers/plaques anywhere?

The renpatsu--shiki "successive shots style" pachinkos were developed in 1953 but were outlawed because their popularity lead to too much crime.

I was the one that was trying to get him to ship the machines. He was going to do it, I was being patient with him. Oh well, at least someone who will appreciate them got them. Ohio? LOL Iowa. He had sent me a message that someone called and was going to come and look at them and if they bought them, he just wanted to sell them. He didn't want me mad at him. I still have not heard from him yet. LOL

thanks for the welcome, I'd not spent much time on the eastern side. it's been nice!

OK. here's some closeups. can anyone that reads japanese help? I saw the 8 31 and wondered if this could be 1956? (31+25)

the machines are identical, which is good when one has an issue, the other's a backup. except for a ball that fell out of the jackpot regulator and some very bent tin, they look great. one blue background is slightly cracked, too, but I think it's fixable.

I just spent an hour cutting up a box, scoring and breaking a scrap of masonite I found in the alley, and taping every which way. so hard to be away from my tools. this would have been a lot quicker with my saw and tape dispenser... oh well. I like the challenge of improvising, too.

on my way out of P town, I will stop at the fedex drop. my dirty laundry will be taking the slow route home, too, doubling as padding for the pachinkos.

compirate, you still have the sharpest eye... you noticed the upper tray ball output, and I just glanced over that... the aluminum tray is very nicely cast, and there is a gate to regulate ball flow that links to the shooter lever.

95 leaving new york was the worst, especially when we managed to get tangled in the new haven traffic after clearing the NY traffic. drove the cape in the dark, but the roads were in good shape and it was not raining. only a little bit confusing with those round-about things (we don't have those in california).

hey shaybay, it might be that I mixed up iowa with ohio... kinda sound the same to me, and I am seriously geographically impaired.

here's a closeup with the wife's new camera. just bought it for her last month. it has good macro and 12x zoom in a point-and-shoot size... you can even see the scratches and rust particles!
