Why are you paying vat. Surely as export you should pay the vat in the Uk on arrival with customs, not in the country of origin Best ask a taxman.
As for balls minimum of 500, but best to have 1000 upwards.

Newer pachi's are very reliable as meant to work non stop in a parlour, so home use is not very demanding on them. You got more chance of something damaged in transit than going wrong.

Sounds about right, You can see why newer machines don't come to the UK that often. When mine come from Japan its between £350-400 each, 2 months to get here, then I have to get a 240 - 24 vac transformer.
For the extra £50 your get it a lot quicker and just have to put a UK plug on it. Plus warranty as well. Might have to ask them about a Shake II slo then

    indeed Rob,
I just discoverd that you do not need to pay VAT because your outside Europe so the price for the machine alone will be 355 euro's which is a lot cheaper.

If your still interested please email me directly.

No a VAT tax has been discussed by our politicians in DC, but I think that would be the nail in the coffin for most of them and the economy. I would be willing to pay a VAT or consumption tax if they did away with Federal Income Tax, the current sales tax and earned income tax. In my opinion a consumption tax is more fair as you only pay for what you decide you want to use or own. Our current sales tax is only on the end user and is around 7-8%. The difference between a VAT and our sales tax is on a VAT, the tax is paid at every step during a products manufacture from raw materials to final assembly and therefore ends up being a larger percentage of the final product price.
