Wow, that ain't good, Milt. Tulsa had mentioned early on in the thread that the reel glass had been altered and the reel graphics didn't match... But, the machine is still very cool for Dattia's diner room and as long as it works, she should be fine.

The reels don't match the theme on this one any better. How can we be sure that this is not an earlier model of the same theme?

UPDATE: I made arrangements to pick up tomorrow, very nice lady. This afternoon, I got an e-mail that said;

"STOP-Don't make plans for tomorrow. I just went down and played the machine and I got shocked twice. It never happened before and I tested it before I listed it. I am not sure what happened, but I won't let this machine go like this. I will not sell anything if I am not sure that it is safe. I am so very sorry.

So I thanked her for her honesty and wished her a nice vacation. The end. So now I still have just 1 pachi...I think it is destiny. Tulsa, do I have to relinquish my "Snipette"?

If the machine was old enough that insulation was starting to break down, it was an accident waiting to happen. Thank goodness she was honest enough about it before you or one of your family got hurt!

She has since e-mailed me again and said her son things it is in the power cord, not the machine itself. But she is still uncomfortable selling it without being sure. Her honesty is commendable...perhaps I dodged a bullet on this one.

Offer her a lower price for your aggravation and tell her you have someone who will fix it. Some stray electricity off the case is an easy fix -- It likely just needs to be grounded. This is still a great machine for your diner. I don't think you dodged a bullet, I think you might be giving up a nice machine. You do need a better price, though, at this point. Don't give this machine up - make a deal!

What would it take to repair it?
Would they take that figure off the total?
Maybe you know someone who can tear it down & refurbish?
Would it be worth the trouble?
