Hello all I came across this machine seems transformer is bad

Hello All

I purchased this machine and it has no power I tested the transformer and seems bad nothing on the multimeter. So I was looking for a replacement on eBay the only one I can find is this https://www.ebay.com/itm/28535105687...jobd60q4&gQT=1 will this work? Also I was wondering can I just wire in a laptop power supply with rating of 24 v 5 amp? Is that safe? I attached the current transformer and machine. I already bought the power supply as I found one on eBay just to have a spare in case that bad also seems like parts are hard to come by thanks for your help in advance. IMG_4788.jpgSo I been reading about grounding this this thing because it’s got the two prong connector and that doesn’t seem entirely safe I guess but I did read that apparently connecting a laptop power supply will not work is dangerous. Here’s my question though should I connect the ground wire to the mounting screws of the new transformer when I get it Wednesday? Is that safe then just wire the rest regular black to black white to white then the ones that go to the dc power supply? I can create a new thread if needed. But attached is what I am working with just want it to be safe for the family. O yeas what’s this weird green thing do? 2 prongs are for token overflow bucket if fitted.
Attaching the ground to the transformer casing is recommended but as inside a wooden box not required. Grounding is more to prevent electrical interference rather than safety. Although can reduce static discharge.

Ok so does this green wire need to be grounded out somewhere with an additional wire? Can I just put it in the same screw I would put the 110v ground from the outlet?

Oh I'm not sure if there is a difference in wording per country. Grounding or earth would be the third wire on your socket. If you have a 3 pin outlet and your lead has 3 wires then I would connect it. If not. Just tucked it away so its tidy.

The current setup is just a two prong outlet that goes to the transformer. Then this cable goes to the power supply but it has a snipped green and black cut cable should I ground this to a screw? I would like to also put a three prong on it just so it’s grounded can I just put the green earth/ground on the same screw the. It will be all grounded and then safe?

Going by the evidence provided.
ie the existence of addition grounding wires in black. I would assume that originally the black went to some where in the frame (maybe the door).and the green was as normally provided a length of cable.to.connect to the parlour shared ground.


If you knew where the other end of the black cable went before being removed and reinstating it. Would.be best as that returns the machine to original spec. But failing that just grounding out the main PSU box would be the best compromise.

That's all I got for now as been in the bar to long. I have to live up to my user name.

Thanks well the transformer comes Wednesday will try and ground out green and black to a screw on transformer and ground the wall plug to same screw and see what happens. Pachi been down for a day I could not access thanks for all your help will post results around Wednesday unless… have fun in the bar

Possibly use a Fused power strip so if a happens it might not trip the main Breaker .

Yes will use fuse strip I ended up ordering this one and the other one clam recommended. This one comes today I guess it’s just yellow yellow and red red so will just hook black to a red and white to a red and green to screw along with other green to screw and not hopefully die lol https://www.ebay.com/itm/28535105687...jobd60q4&gQT=1

Ok so hooked it up yellow to the dc power and the wall plug to the reds. Keeps blowing the 8 amp fuse…any ideas?

Well I ordered a box of power supplies from a person on eBay also because I originally thought I needed the power supply so there is a similar one to the one that in this it’s not exact the hopper is a 6 port instead of 8 port yeah I don’t know new to these things and damn it looked similar. so the machine has been on like 10 min no blown fuse. Anyways I seen you clam posted on another thread about them being quick blow so I ordered some more from Amazon 125vac 8a that will come tomorrow as I have parted out all the 8a I got from these other power supplies the fuse that is in there is different fuse in it that is just says 8a doesn’t say 125vac or 220vac just soc8a out of another power supply so maybe the hopper is blowing it? There isn’t much too the hoppper or could something in power supply be bad? Can this 8 port hopper be wired to six?

I played this thing with the eBay dc power supply with no hopper for like an hour no issues woohoo other then hitting a bunch of bonuses lol and not making it throw as hopper is disconnected i guess it cannot payout so yeah but its working I came to learn the 8a that was in the two power supply above were slow blow I guess the one that I had left is a fast blow no T well the ones i ordered are fast blow also is that ok or does it need slow blow? Gonna try the other supply again can you explain more on the bi directional diode and what it may look like I be browsing the forum trying to find the answer? Also there I was googling and found my hopper motor may be the culprit but I don’t think this thing had issue before guy got it from said he played it all the time and one day it just stopped. Well after some research I ordered 1830 transistor and will get it in 2 weeks will update around then

Well I got the transistor put it in pads ripped a little hopper paid out as soon as I plugged in now it get hopper error so I started soldering some wires in hope of luck with nothing.
