Default Luster Gundam One Year Stopped Working

    Hello from Japan,
I recently stumbled into a Hobby-Off and spotted this beautiful Gundam One Year War pachislot machine for $80 (USD). I had one of the workers plug it in and show it working, even played a few spins on it. I immediately purchased it, put it in the trunk of my car, drove straight home (carefully, much to the dismay of anyone stuck behind me in traffic), but now the machine will not work correctly. I may have errantly flipped a switch, but have gone through all the combinations but cannot get it to play correctly. It has a interior key to an option box (bad phrasing, closest I could come to), as well as exterior key which allows me inside of it. The option box has a smaller, turn key that states "OFF" and "ON", one push button setting which changes the payout numbered 1 - 6, along with two switches below the turn key slot which google translate into "Automatic Payment" (switch in up position for "yes", switch in down position for "no") and another switch for "Stop" (switch in up position for "yes", switch in down position for "no"). I can either make the machine go into one of two error modes, or it will simply go through the video. What is strange is that the machine automatically spits out whatever tokens I put into it. I opened the door and found that there is a coin rail from where a customer inputs their coin, then it follows a narrow track, and dumps into the machine's bucket. The coin rail seems like it won't close, and when I tried to gently ziptie that rail down, it still does not register a coin has been given, and just dumps the coin into the machine's bucket without giving me a credit. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    WELCOME!!!

Have you tried a full reset??

    Reset/switches

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpc8K4F6KPw

Full reset (sometimes referred to here as the hard reset) it includes changing or setting the odds as part of the procedure..

    "TURN YOUR MACHINE OFF FIRST"

    1. Locate internal key switch, and insert key.
Note: In order to change odds, machine must be in idle mode with no tokens/coins or credits being played and off.

    2. Turn "reset" key switch to on, to access programming mode.

    3. Turn on machine now.

    4. Depending on machine type, a number from 1 to 6 will be displayed on one of the LED meters on front door.

    5. Locate and push Odds setting button. Depress button and notice movement of number being displayed in LED meter.

    6. Once desired level is displayed (1 to 6), push down on play handle (Joy Stick) for 10 seconds.

    7. Turn "reset" key back to off.

    8. Machine should immediately initialize. If not, turn power switch to the OFF position, wait 15 seconds and turn power switch back to ON position.

Also just to confirm some additional info regarding hard reset

Two switches on the power supply:
    - One requires a soft reset at the end of a bonus.
    - The other pays out all tokens at the end of a bonus.

For these switches in most cases off is in the down or right position.

    Hello,
thank you for the rapid response and help. A reset worked for a while. The coin line actuated as intended and didn’t immediately spit the tokens back at me. However after the first few spins a 15 credit payout occurred and there was not 15 tokens to spit out. This threw the system into a fit once more. I filled the bucket with about 60 or so and tried again but it seemed stuck on the error code which roughly translated into “go get an attendant.” I believe that resetting the system may work once more but we ran out of time for tonight to try again. Will report back tomorrow once I give it another series of resets.

Normally turning the door key to the left will reset soft errors. Like unable to make payout due to empty hopper. Of course. As so as you do that. It will try to payout again and if still empty will throw up another error.

Ran through the reset video once more and the system comes back to a normal operating function, sort of. Any input of tokens continues to spit them right back at me. Tried to go through reset process a third time, and while still holding the spin lever downwards I turn the reset key to the off position and am immediately greeted with an error message that translates into “please call attendant.” I try using the master key to soft reset the device and it only restarts the alert loop to grab an adult. I will go back a few more times and see if changing the two flip switches from either a no or yes position for “auto payout” or “stop” (not sure what “stop” means) will help but I am still stuck in a cycle where either the cabinet will go immediately into a call adult alarm loop or it won’t but regardless of setting off an alarm it still won’t seem to properly accept tokens.

I had a Bisty with a dodgy solenoid in the coin mech before. Proving it was a little difficult because the machine has to be clear of errors to actuator it. Including having the door closed.

Auto payout. Will automatic payout all tokens after a jackpot.

Stop. Will prevent further play after a jackpot till the machine is reset by attendant. I guess so parlours can fill up the hopper and prevent errors during play.

Finally got it up and running but it is not perfect. There is definitely something dodgy with the coin rail. I used three small zip ties to align it as best I could and near accepts them, or it will get stuck until the 2nd or 3rd coin is inserted then the combined weight will push them through and count either all of them or some of them. One thing I noticed is that there is an overflow bucket of sorts to the right of the coin hopper. There are also two metal prongs which stick into the overflow bucket, and if those prongs make contact with coins, it will summon the bloody “call the attendant” alarm. Honestly I thought it had to have coins making contact with those two prongs for some reason and when I forgot to put the bucket back in it just worked, then put two and two together once the bucket went back that it was causing most of the issues. Wife’s complaint is that you have to insert three coins to start the game, which is also the max bet. While neither of us have much experience with slot machines, the ones we have exposed to in America will let you make a single coin bet and gladly take all your money given the opportunity. 3 token bet is standard these days. Although my RE: Zero does allow 1 and 2 token bet. But reduced winning lines.
