Question Don Don King E6 Error Missing Stop Board Cable

    Good evening!

This might be a long shot but I’m gonna. A good buddy of mine has this slot machine and his grandchildren always played on it for fun. It recently stopped working so I took it home and am looking at it now. I’m new to this but I learn quick. Upon opening the door, I follow the procedures of resetting the slot machine and changing the difficulty. I had to wire a new switch since I don’t have the key. The machine resets correctly and when I put coins in, everything seems to work fine. When I hit the joy stick, boom… E6 Error. I know this is a prize error and they recommend hitting the reset button which I do but no change.

I few other things I noticed. The bottom stop buttons are dead. The LED board inside shows no life from them. Only buttons that work are the max bet, the hopper disposal button and another button that isn’t labeled.

Lastly, I hope I’m not crazy… I think it’s missing a cable???? From the main reel to the stop board? Maybe this is the whole issue? Is this normal? Am I actually missing the cable?

    Any advice would be appreciated!!

Default Don Don King E6 Error Code Missing stop board cable

    Good evening,

long story short, I am trying to fix this casino machine for my buddy. His grandchildren used to play on it and all the sudden it started throwing this E6 error code. I decided to take a long at it. I’m new to this stuff but I did pick up pretty quickly. I was able to do the reset procedure as well as install a new switch bc I don’t have the key. I watched a couple videos and one thing that concerns me is the front stop buttons on the front don’t work at all. The LED board shows no response from them but it does from all the other buttons and even the joy stick. I even read that sometimes the fuse on the stop board can blow so I went to check that and… there isn’t a cable from the stop board to the main reel like all the other systems I’m seeing.

Does anyone have any ideas they can shoot my way? Everything else seems to be in working order. The hooper, door latch, reset switches, etc. only thing not working are the 3 stop buttons and the e6 error. It will let me put coins in and counts the credits but once the hit the joy stick, the top reel spins halfway and then boom error.

In your third picture of your first post of the sideways reels and stop board, I see on the stop board's black connector socket has the ribbon cable locks open. That's telling me that yes, youre missing a cable,
It's hard to visually see because all your pictures are sideways but if you zoom in on that picture you can see what I'm talking about. If you'e using you phone to take the pictures, try not holding the phone sideways when you take a picture, that be why they are sideways, or your resolution is too large. Not sure though.

and if your "good buddy and grandkids " use to play this, then he or someone removed the cable an probably still has it maybe. Check with him

Thank you all for the quick reply. I called him this morning and he states it actually never worked. He just got it and the kids would put coins in it and it would be powered on and it rings loud with sounds with that E6 Error code. So it looks like I’m on the hunt for that cord. He does not have it. Is there anywhere I can look for this cord? It is just a standard parallel cable? I counted 40 pins on the slot behind the real and 30 pins that connects to the stop board.

You dont count the pins in pairs so it half of your numbers...20 and 15 I'm pretty sure...count the slots between them. Maybe somone else can verify this.
The connector locks at each end just "clamp" the cable in place.

Okay I get what you’re saying but is that cable a generic type of cable? Is there anywhere I can order it? I tried looking up Pachiso parts but can’t seem to find anyone selling that cable.

Here is a picture of the ports.

Update.. I found the cable needed and have eveything hooked up as it should. When I have the stop board connected, none of the buttons work at all. If I disconnect the stop board, all buttons will work except the front stop buttons. They just glow red. No input on the LED board either.

Fuse is good on stop board.

    Any ideas?

The capacitors fail with age on the stop board. If your skilled with a soldering iron. You might try replacing them.

I'm not saying that's the issue. But it's where I would start.

    Well almost.
Check all other inputs for a stuck button or switch.
Spin lever, 1,2 max bet buttons. Etc.

Thank you for the reply. I checked all buttons and everything seems to be good. The Spin lever shows a solid LED light on the motherboard and when you flick it down, the light goes out and then back on when released? Is that normal? I see that when I press the max bet, coin eject, and the bet 1 button it shows a LED once I hit them. The light doesn’t stay on. I ordered another stop board yesterday but I’m gonna solder new parts on the board today just to see what happens.
