Default Royal Ace CR error wont clear

I have a royal ace machine that has a CR error that wont clear. I have done multiple reset attempts and removed and inspected/cleaned every connection point along with the coin hopper and the coin mechanism. I have replaced reset keyswitch and I am able to change the odds so i know im in setup mode but CR always comes back.

I've read on another thread that the "photo eye" on the coin mechanism was dirty or faulty. I have cleaned this one but how can I verify that it's good or bad?

Depending on the token acceptor. It may have 2 or more sensors.
Turn off the power. Unplug the token mech. Turn on and try a reset. If it starts without error. It's going to be a duff sensor. If it still goes to error. Ot not definite. If you can see the sensors whilst the machine is powered up. Try pointing a digital camera at the emitter side (not an apple device) you might see a bright glow on the screen. This again isn't definite. Of no glow from any part of the sensor at any angle. Then it's duff. If you see a glow. It just means the emitter is working but the receiver could be bad.

Some machines have led inputs on the cpu to indicate any/all inputs. You could try making/breaking the beams and see if you get an indicator. Then check the other sensors to confirm.

Or of course you can do the above with a volt meter and check voltage. But this means working out the sensor data sheet and seeing what pins do what.

When i unplugged the coin mechanism the error changes to CC. Then I plug it back in and it goes back to CR. I also unfortunately dont seem to have the LED lights to verify function of my buttons and sensors on this machine

Daito seemd to have changed their error codes. The only CR I can find says.

    C r セレクターセンサー異常 センサー確認後、エラー解除(部品交換の必要あり)

C r Selector sensor abnormality After checking the sensor, the error will be cleared (parts need to be replaced)

I have a Takasago Hellowinnings machine with the same Cr error. I believe these have the same internals as the box in your first pic and your coin mech look exactly the same as mine.

Is yours a Takasago or some other brand? I haven't been able to find much info on Takasagos. Anyway hopefully we can figure this out.

Holy crap I got it working! I took the coin mech from the board it was plugged into (after turning power OFF!), cleaned it out even though it already looked pretty clean considering its a 26 year old Machine. Plugged it back in, did a reset by turning the key and holding the button next to the key to also change odds (I think this might trigger a "Full" reset?), and held the joystick down for a good 15-20 seconds. Then turned the key and immediately heard the click of the electromagnet on the coin mech turn on. And everything works! Good luck hope you get yours going too!

I also put some conductive grease on the pins of the coin mech plug. Not sure what fixed it this time because along with unplugging and cleaning the coin mech, I also made sure to hold down the arm for a good 15-20 seconds this time. There was no indicator when doing this that anything happened but when I turned the key back up the machine initialized. So I wonder if I just wasnt doing the reset correctly before because the sticker in my machine just says "depress arm" in the reset steps, not to hold it down for 15+ seconds which I read in another thread.

    Anyway good luck!
