Default Newbie here. What did I bring home today

I picked up this pachinko for free on my way home from work today. If nothing else, I will clean it and hang in on my game room wall for decoration. If I can get it working, cool. Please tell me what I brought home.

Welcome to PachiTalk. It looks like you've acquired a mid 1970's Heiwa machine. It has a small ball jam on the "spoon" where balls exit the back of the machine. A good cleaning and some new balls and you should be in business.

    Awesome freebie find!
There’s a metric crap-ton of practical info right here, if you do a quick search around for some info (this is a good start: http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/show...ds-thru-1-2010 ), chances are you’ll find most of what you need. Beyond that, I’ve learned that the people here are ludicrously knowledgeable AND helpful when I hit a specific snag.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I found a match for my new machine on ebay by googling "Heiwa" and "dog", so it's probably a 1978. It's exciting to see what it looks like when cleaned up. I'm glad to learn only the lights are electrical. I have much cleaning ahead of me. Cheers!

is it just me or are there extra nails around the center piece? the left and right entrances, while very rare to hit, should at least be possible...

I hope to be able to tell you how often I hit those entrances in the month of June. I suspect the last thing to arrive will be 1,000 pachinko balls from a fellow Pinsider. Fingers crossed.

Began cleaning tonight. I haven't figured out how to get behind the glass yet. Do I need to learn to pick locks?

The back side pic in your first post, the rod with the ring in the middle opens the glass. Push it up.

looking at the whole machine those pathways are mostly blocked.. its rare but i have seen this before, if they were open for play that machine would be to easy and pay to high of a payout %..

    plenty of other win pockets

OK gang, maybe I'm being a little greedy, but someone 5 miles from my home had a pachinko listed on OfferUp for $20 and I snatched it up this afternoon. It's interesting to compare two different brands side-by-side, Heiwa and Nishijin. It came with 200+ balls so now I can playtest both of them. My plan is to keep one and give the other as a gift this Christmas. Cheers!

Good lawwdey -- I'd nearly consider moving back to the [frozen solid half the year] upper midwest [well maybe, anyway?] ifn's I thought I'd also have as much good fortune as you have had lately -- one 'free', one '$20', who cares what #3 cost -- I'll still call that A DEAL...???

Here are a couple pics after a quick clean-up. So far, this "A" machine seems to have more parts than my "B". Those of you with more experienced eyes than mine, do you see anything missing?

Gods, I wish I were somewhere northerly enough that I could find usable machines within a 5-hour car ride.
