Identifying a Pachinko machine?

Hey folks,
First off I want to thank you fine folks for all the resouces you guys have here, it's been very helpful in doing my own research. But I'm looking for some confirmation and a little insight into a machine that I'm looking into for someone.

-A first look it seems to be a Nishijin Model C, but it's also marked "Sophia" and "super deluxe". Are these just secondary model names? or what am I missing here?

-The tax stamp is marked "48" which I understand is a 1973 model. Is this correct?

-Everything on it looks like a Model c...except it's got an electric shooter...which i understand makes it no longer "vintage" yet it's not exactly "modern" either? Can someone shed some light on where this machine falls in the history of pachinko?

What you have is a retrofitted 1973 Nishijin Shiroi Kamome. In 1976 and 1977 many 1973 Nishijins were pulled and refitted with a shooting knob, although you rarely find them in such good shape. The background is a 48S-E, here is what it looks like when it is not all faded out:

It actually has the standard "B" style modular mechanics on the rear, not the "C" style.

I had no idea they retrofitted the older model machines! This one is working great with the exception of a minor jam in the bottom tulip, that I think we've got sorted. My bosses daughter is planning on putting it to use

Any chance I could get you guys to look at one more? I've been having difficulty tracking info on the Sanyo machines :/

Check out Vintage Pachinko Home Page in there photo gallery. Your machine is almost identical to a 1973 Sankyo Concorde.

There is a green piece at the top of the Sankyo machine that should be pivoted down. It prevents ball jams in the upper pachinko ball feed ramp...

first off that is a way cool model B you found. I have never seen one with a knob that has been untoched.

Your sankyo is missing a few parts off the back (looks to be about 3 or 4) but only one is major. it is the little cover that goes over the track to keep balls from spilling out.

(please pay no attention to the 2 plastic covers missing and the broken tray. They will all be fixed... at some point.)

great looking vintage machine with a shooter... that is only the 4th on i have ever seen...

i think there probably some of the rearest machines out there...

That is the first 1974 retrofit I have ever seen. But then again, any "A" style machines that were made later than 1972 are pretty hard to find. That one is is a real find.
