So you try to dump them in short bursts but they still build up and you end up pulling them out with your hand.
I really don't know they keep up with them in a parlor setting.
that is the reason when i build cabinets i make a large ball hopper on the top...

My BATTLE SHIP. This will hold 24,000 Sphere's.

    1000 Sphere's weighs Approximately 12 Lbs. 12 X's 24 = 288 Lbs.

No what I am getting at is that the lifter is fine. It does it's job and no need for a big box of balls on the top.
I have a try under the lower try.
I mean that All the payouts are dumped into the upper try. When is gets to full you dump them into the lower try with the slide button. But as soon as you do this no balls are going to the shooter so you interrupted the balls shooting when you want as many as you can going into the trap door and pockets. I don't see how a person in a fever in the parlor is moving all the payout balls into the trays without stopping play to dump balls from the upper try.

you don't have to empty the top tray during a fever, once it gets full it will divert the balls to the lower tray.

all you have to do is keep emptying the lower tray

Here's my quick 2 dollar method of over loading the hopper tray. I bought two plastic boxes from a Dollar store for only 1 dollar each.
For the hopper tray I used a plastic box that was larger then what I needed so I just cut it down to size. I cut it into to pieces and tape it together in the middle to get the exact size. Then I simply cut a hole in the bottom of the other box and placed it on top where the hole can pour more balls into the tray. And that's it. (for now until I build a cabinet.)

This two dollar sharp knife solution seems to be a brilliant hack. Visual, simple, and well documented. Thank you for the idea.
