    Default Dropcase Game

I know it isn't a Pachi but after all the talk of Allwins lately I think I'll try to make a Dropcase game. From what I can tell it is in the same family as Allwins.

Thanks to MrGneiss for the link and ideas at Nostalgiapelit - Etusivu Check out the Pajatso one!!

And this picture got me fired up

I didn't know where to post this thread. If it's in the wrong place I can re post it.

I drew the idea onto a box lid.

I found some thin clear plastic that had red and blue printed on it. It is about as thick as a coin.

I cut it into .25" strips and taped them onto the sketch on the box.

If I put a clear cover over it the coins fall into the tall slots untill full then roll into the next slot.

Now to think of background graphics, or theam. Was this kind of game used with a theam or just plain backgrounds?

I will get the front part to work and then make the cabnet around that. Then figure out the shooter. Then maybe by then I will figure out what the h*** I am gonna do in the back. How do these things work???

If you want to make it work electro-mechanically, you can use optos to read coins and solenoids to pay from stack (or just small hopper).

For a mechanical payout there are three well known ways to do it. The easiest is to use small latch that coins trigger. German collector Tobias Ballmann has good info on his site and he also sells these parts. I think parts can be done also from durable plastic.

Finnish games had better way in 50's and 60's. It allows to pay out more coins but it is harder to build. There are trigger parts both front side and back side.

Later from 60's to 80's there were this Finnish patented invention but it is hard to make if you don't have cad program, molds and such. It allows to pay out up to 12 coins in one row and one center pocket hit can trigger 48 coins win. The drum shaped part includes cogwheel, spring and small ball bearing. This is a good gallery of restoration progress of one game. At the end there is a picture of coin flicking mechanism. Plastic parts are only for prevent cheating so you really need couple of washers, flicking arm and small spring.

That will help a lot. Now I can see what is in the back of the machine.

I was going to make a shooter that you hit, but after seeing that one maybe I'll make it so you pull it out to shoot. Less shaking the machine that way when you play.

The kit on one of those pages said 395.00 How much is that in US$?

I may start over now with the design. I love the simple lever that was used by the one builder.

I want it to be simple yet work well.

I loved the one that when you hit the one slot, that coin hit the slot next to it and so on. So if you get it in that slot you will win like 5 coins.

It is something like $580. Wooden parts are not hard to make if you have decent skills. The metal part kit is much cheaper. Even the play field and metal parts are "only" $270 together and you can make your own cabinet. If you want to make it work with US coins maybe the mechanical coin mech included the set does not work. Ask Tobias, which size coins the parts are designed to work.

Unless your using it as a bank, wouldn't it be best to make it work with pachislo tokens? cheaper to fill

I made about 7 of the little triggers, Hopeing they work as is. I layed out the design on the box lid and everything worked. When I asked my wife to film me playing it, I had it all full of tokens and put one in to cause a payout. The whole thing dumped every coin out at once! I was laughing so hard. Then my wife said "OK the camera is ready now... go ahead"So no video of that.
