Default Star wars fault ? help

My star wars pachinko machino will not start up, well not all the time!
when you turn it on at the mains it makes a few noises, R2D2 moves, the lights flash on and off a bit, the screen sort of lights up, but no video and nothing else ? You then turn it of and on again and after a bit it all springs to life and all is well ? Any ideas thanks

Yes I can confirm that it seems to be 'normal' for the Star Wars Pachinko to behave this way

There are lots of posts regarding this here and we suspect it has something to do with temperature, Star Wars likes to be warm and cosy...

It doesn't seem to affect Gameplay at all, once warmed up, just 'one of those things'

Mine does the exact same thing as well. Put up a post about it about a week or so ago. Leaving it plugged in a powered off didn't seem to make a difference. Still has trouble waking up after being powered off for more than a day or so.

The annoying thing is...Mine used to be about the only one that never had this start-up glitch

In fact you will probably find past posts from me stating that mine was behaving impeccably...

it was only last year that it started to do it, and only a couple of times, but it was after it hadn't been used for a while...

Oddly enouph, I have never had that problem with my Star wars...NEVER! My LOTR will do it, But My SW has always started up perfectly fine...no problem.

LOTR and SW are only 8 feet away from each other, run on the same circuit in the house, The only difference with the locations is LOTR faces west, and SW faces east.

Of course, I probably just jinxed myself.

You probably live in a very warm State of the USA
Star Wars problem is not a problem at all, only the tempature is important, in the summer my Star Wars machines always turn on the first time, in winter they need to heat up

I wonder if the problem stems from a weak transformer. Just a thought.
Or the transformer is cold. Vaydy eenteresting?

When I investigated this on my machines (several Sankyo machines in both Victory and Lumina Frames), I found that changing the transformers had no effect at all, I tried 4A, 6A and 12A transformers and all showed identical symptoms.

The problem was definitely temperature related, and was confined to the video CPU board. On my Magic Party machine (the only Sankyo I have two of!) I kept one machine in my unheated workshop and the other in my house. The house one powered up first time, the workshop machine had to be warmed up, this was the same no matter which one was in the house/workshop.

Repeating the experiment but swapping the video CPU boards between machines showed that the video CPU that was kept in the house would power up first time on both machines, the cold video CPU board wouldn't work in the warm house machine until it had been warmed up for 5 minutes or so.

Checking my findings against the Star Wars machine using a hair dryer and freezer spray isolated the power up problem to the Hitachi SH3 CPU chip on the video board. This was repeated on Neo Powerful, Janken Battle, and both Magic Party machines to confirm that cooling this chip would trigger the problem in all machines.

Interestingly enough, Vicky Chance powers up first time every time even straight from the cold workshop. But this machine has no LCD screen or video CPU, so maybe it's not that surprising.
