Default Looney Tunes Always in E-8 Error Mode

The other day I decided to change the payout setting to 6 on all of my machines. Unfortunately, things didn't turn out well with the Looney Tunes machine. I can't get it off of the E-8 error code. As with the rest of my machines, after turning it off, I moved the reset key to the opposite position. Next, I turned on the machine. I then found the button that changes the payout setting to 6. After reaching 6, I depressed the black knob accordingly and then I turned the reset key back to its normal position. I've gone through these steps seemingly 100 times on this machine to no avail. When I turn the reset key back to its normal position, it almost sounds like its trying to reset, but after a partial second, it kicks back into the E-8 error code with the accompanying warning siren. The hopper is filled with tokens, so it can't relate to that.

Has anyone experienced this before on any of their machines? Any suggestions? The Looney Tunes is my new pride and joy, so I hate the thought of not getting it to work properly. Thank you!

did you check the overflow sensors?
how about reseting the hopper and coin mech harness connectors.
Last thing I can think of is check that none of the buttons are stuck, that would prevent the handle knob from working.

I've disconnected and reattached many of the connectors throughout the machine, but I'm still not having any luck getting it out of this E-8 error mode. The first picture suggests that the door is still open even though its closed. I don't know if that's one of the causes of my problem or not. Obviously, the door is open when I attempt to reset the machine. The knob is definitely working because I can change the payout setting #, but turning the reset key back from right to left doesn't return the machine to normal play.

When I turn the reset key, the machine makes a split-second sound that is consistent with what it used to do when it was working and I turned the machine on, but now it immediately jumps into this E-8 error mode.

I've attached a few pics of the inside and can add some more close-ups if anyone has any suggestions or has experienced this before. Thanks!

There are LEDs inside the door that turn on or off when you press each button on the front, move the joystick, etc. - it's a good check to see that all the buttons are working properly.

Does the problem only happen on level 6? Can you change it back to level 5? Power off, key right, power on, set level, hold joystick, key left...

Have you tried a reset turning the door key to the left?
