OK. I had a REALLY long post here, I hit submit, but then I think that I closed the window a fraction of a second later and I think it didn't make it... Dang it...

Anyway, let me try to cover what I can in the 2 minutes I have before I have to leave for my parents' house (I'm at my in-laws right now).

Anyway, let me try to cover some of the responses to me.

I don't expect to get enough out of my current pachinko to cover the full cost of Star Wars, but I was thinking maybe 50% or something.

I don't have the space, really, for another additional anything in my basement (trust me, I've tried. We have a walk out basement in a 2 story house, so we only have about 800 sqft usable after taking out space for the utility room with the water heater, etc. Then add the fact that the largest wall is pretty much 100% windows, the two side walls have windows as well, and the other wall is where the home theater is and the utility room. Subtract space for a full bathroom, a walk-in closet, plus leaving space for the hide-a-bed couch and love seat (for when people visit, which actually is pretty often), and I am down to little room.

Here is a picture from about 2 years ago when I have the home theater gear in the general basement space, which really didn't work too well, but shows some details. It doesn't show the foosball, pachinko, or my current MAME arcade which is larger than the one in the picture.

Oh, the basement is completely finished right now, minus some trim around the windows and doors, but that doesn't matter for this conversation. I will try to get some current photos when I am back home tomorrow night.

As for visiting Arby, at first I thought that River City (which isn't a real town or city in Iowa) was in reference to River City from The Music Man musical, which has roots back to Mason City, Iowa. But looking at his profile, it looks like he is in Cedar Rapids, which we drive past every time we are in Dubuque (like we are this weekend). I actually lived in Cedar Rapids for 2 years a few years ago.

As for HD, I am very versed in audio and video as I am a very avid home theater freak. I have charts and graphs showing at what point it makes sense to go from standard TV resolution, to 720p, to 1080p, to the next level 1440p. It amazed me how many people think that they need to havfe 1080p for a TV that is smaller than 50" when the human eye, at normal viewing distances, can't see a difference in 1080p over 720p, but that is for a completely different subject/forum. I just mentioned it here since that is how a lot of people reference the "newer" pachinko machines such as Star Wars and Indiana Jone. Is the more accurate term "cyclic"???

Well, I gotta run (for now)... Off to visit my parent and grandpa (who is very sick with cancer), then off to fly my R/C plane at a field near my parents' house, and then "summer birthdays" with my side of the family, and then back to my in-laws to sit in their hot tub again tonight before bed...

I'll check in again later though, don't worry.

Thanks to everyone for the friendly welcome and helpful tips so far. I hope that Jeff and Tesla can work things out. I don't know any of the back history, but my experience with many different forums over the years has shown that even when someone is a pain in the butt to someone else, usually valuable information can still be gained by putting on a "brain filter" and being slow to take things personally. Obviously one person is an admin, and the other seems like he has been here a while with almost 2000 posts, so I would hate to, as a new guy coming in, see someone up and leave over a personality conflict.

Sorry for the un-pleasant welcome you received it was un-called for and usually doesn't occur around here most people are very friendly and as with any family people have a tendency to have personal conflicts . If i could start again Welcome to pachitalk the most informative pachi site on the web . As for space i see two windows being covered by blinds most likely for the theater .Pachi's are wonderful machines but if they do nothing there great for blocking sunlight . a few members here have made wall box's to enclose their pachinko you might ask one to help you make a cabinet to cover your windows and block the light with a functional window blind . Again Welcome and enjoy your stay with the family ...

Well, I've thinking about a Tat (haven't told Nutrient Woman yet) and I wouldn't let anyone but you do it. So, if ever I make it your way, I'd be putting you to work. But then again, I could get lost in the back room for weeks.
Actually, my father is from Madrid and I have never been there, so, I see a road trip in the future.

Yeah, that picture is from about 2 years ago. Things are way different now. My theater is in a different dedicated room, so I don't need to block windows any more...

OK. I was doing some looking online and came across a Lord of the Rings pachinko that is on ebay with 2 other pachinkos and a wall mount for $300 (pickup only). It is about 2.5 hours from my house. Some places online say "if you can only have 1 pachinko, LOTR is it" and others don't even list it as a top 5.

So anyway, this auction has the LOTR like I mentioned, and the other 2 are both Firewings. I wouldn't need them, but could possibly sell them cheap when I sell my current one (or who knows)... I love Lord of the Rings, but didn't even realize that they made a pachinko themed after it.

For those that have played LOTR and Star Wars, what are your opinions on the differences? Thanks!

The Star Wars is much more interactive with the inclusion of the chance button and opportunities to shoot at tie fighters and darth varder. The reach sequences are visually appealing as well as the animated R2D2. LOTR's on the other hand will get boring quickly as it's very repetitive, no interactive features and no animatronics.

OK. So where is the best place to pick up a Star Wars pachinko? I hate to use eBay just because it is easy. If I can support a true Pachinko shop or someone here, that is preferred...

Your best bet is arbycoffee. If he's got one to sell he'll read this and let you know. He's also located in Cedar Rapids, not that far from you.

Are the "cells" the style that I have now with the LCD screen (from around 1999)? Still picking up this lingo...

So am I going to be stuck looking at eBay? I'll do the obvious and check out the for sale items area here first...
