    Evening all!
Just to let you know I swapped the power supply - and it still does not start first time. However, the R2D2 does move a little more when you first switch it on, but that might just be coincidence.

Did I imagine it, or when I turned it on today did I hear a loud "Ding dong" doorbell type noise from the Star Wars? Does that mean anything, or was it my imagination?

    Best wishes,

    Mark ;o)

R2D2 does just move a little and then everything's fine. Don't know what the door bell sound was - someone at the door?

That Ding is a AH HA! from me!!

Actually "The ding" is a good sign as a properly powered Star Wars will give you that and then an immediate start with the light test and R2D2 moving around. Now the question is what is a proper power supply for your area? What are the specs on your power supply/transformer? Compare them to what we have on ours and then maybe adjust for your area. As I had figured : You did notice an improvement from where you were before. Now get out the hairdryer and the dehumidifier and dry your room out and after installing the proper transformer you will likely have even more improvement.

Glad to see you are finally on your way to using The Force

Thanks all, I will continue to investigate!

That is still wierd about the "ding dong" sound - it was different from the sound after powering up after a reset. A real "door bell" sound, however there it was definately not someone at my door - I have a different sounding bell ;o)

But, as nobody else seems to have heard this sound - maybe it was my imagination. It has been a long week, after all..... ;o)

    Cheers,

    Mark

I don't know about the UK, but almost every darn commercial on TV here has a doorbell sound in it....drives me crazy. Most of the time, it isn't even relative...just a little added attention getter.

Mark - I am in the UK also & have the same thing as you when switching on the Star Wars machine. The blank screen & the R2D2 moving about, when he stops moving I switch off the machine & then back on & it then works fine. I also get the "ding dong" you describe whilst R2D2 moves about, but not everytime.

Great, thanks Chrish - maybe Im not going mad after all! I have only heard the "ding dong" once, but at least now I know it was the machine. There didnt seem to be any other different, so Im not sure what it means though.

Payout tray wasnt full, so I dont think it was that.

    Many thanks,

I just switched mine off and on - no sound, starts immediately.

I removed power to the unit, waited a bit, reapplied power, turned it back on, no sound, starts immediately.

Where the heck is this Ding Dong coming from? Hey how about taking a video of it with audio so we can see and hear this event?

I have switched mine on and off at least a hundred times since this thread started and it has instantly started with R2D2 doing an immediate dance and the LCD firing up immediately etc. The only thing I haven't tried is freezing it or getting a humidfier to try to replicate the conditions that are apparently in the UK?

There must be something strange going on in the electric current in

BTW I just started mine up and there was no Ding either so apparently the ding was from my girlfriend calling me to tell me supper was ready.....

Well I will try and keep a camera near the machine in case the "ding dong" phenonomon happens again - but like you, I have switched my machine on and off several times - not yet hunudreds but probably nearly 50, and I've only heard this sound once.

However, if it happens again and I have my camera handy, I will post a vid :o)

    Thanks again,

Has anyone come up with a fix for this issue yet?
I believe my machine is developing the same issue now. I switched it on and rather than starting straight off, it seemed to have problems initialising. Basically, a line periodically flashed across the screen, R2D2 charachter just moves back and forth - but the machine does not start. R2D2 stops moving after a minute there are no lights other then the 2 dashes under R2 and the LCD is blank. The twist is I do not have to restart the game All I need to do is activate the start pocket and the game pops to life. Then it is fine untill i power it off til the next day.

    HELP!!!!

seeing that they run 24/7 in the palours I don't think the problem may have ever showed up in Japan.

I sometimes have to reboot a pachinko if I haven't played it for awhile. but, they always work after that.

I would call it an inconvience instead of a problem.

I just verified with Chrish that activating the start pocket brings the game back to life. So now what? I would think that would rule out a power issue then. That would also rule out a loose wire, wouldn't it?

At the moment I appear to be one of the lucky ones.......

Mine has never had this problem........

It is however played at least once a week and is kept in a living room which is centrally heated........but previous to this was kept in the Kitchen near to the back door in a constant draft - so maybe temp is not the problem either.....
