Opinion? You can enjoy playing the game without running a ton of balls through it. Since its for fun, not profit its really the way to go.

First let me say THANK YOU to everyone on this board, I just recently acquired a Star Wars Pachinko machine and the information on this site has been invaluable. My machine has the cyclic mod but I wanted to see if I could also have the balls payout when I hit the bonus rounds. I quickly found out that the balls get jammed in the payout mechanism because they get backed up due to the cyclic mod. Thanks to the info on this site, I was able to open the machine up and I can see exactly why this appears not to work. They cut out part of the payout chute so that it can close over the cyclic mod. This prevents the balls from spilling over into the bottom catch area when the balls get backed up. Instead, they get stopped in the payout mechanism and cannot go anywhere. Is there any way to get the best of both worlds? I like the cyclic mod but also have enough balls that I would like to see the actual payout when I hit the bonuses. Any ideas or is this just not possible?

It's a matter of channeling the balls. You are wanting what is referred to as semi-cyclic. In this mod you channel the balls that would drop to the back, to the front bottom tray. Your payouts would pay normally to the top tray. So you would have to remove whatever it is that was done to yours to make it cyclic, ensure it's working properly then mod it to channel the dropped balls to the front bottom tray.

This is the best of both worlds.

That is exactly what I am looking to do but I cannot figure out how to channel only the balls from the payout chute as it looks that if I cover the cut out of the chute back up, it will not close as it will bump into the channel that was added for the mod. I am guessing the reason they cut the piece out of the payoff chute is that any balls paid out would also drop onto the channel that was added to put the balls back in the shooting tray. Maybe I just cannot visualize how to undo this part of it. Anyone done this??
By the way, I finally hit the bonus last night for the first time, what a rush!! That is why I really want to see this thing payoff, I bet it would have been even more crazy. Thanks again!!

Can you take a series of pictures of what was done to yours to make it cyclic? We might be able to help but we have to know what it was that was done.

I think I may have figured it out. It looks like I can cut the mod channel off where it meets the payout tube which would then route all the balls into the lower tray. I do not think it can be done to have the played balls return to the top tray and the payout balls go to the bottom. I will give it a shot and see what happens. If that does not work, I will get some pix. Thanks for the help!

Well you want the payout balls to go to the top and the played balls to go to the bottom.

Oops, you're right, the payout balls will go to the top and the played balls to the bottom. I have been staring at this thing too long....

SUCCESS!!! A little dremel work did the trick and now I have a semi-cyclic mod on the Star Wars machine. Now I just need to get the bonus round again to really give it a workout. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated!!

How to change a Parlor Ready to a American Pinball Action™ (Cyclic Usage) for the latest Sankyo frame.

Back side of the cell with the cover on

Back side of the cell with the cover removed and a plastic angle hot glued in even with the opening in front.

Front side of cell showing the white insert even with the opening.

Shows the back cover open and how it looks before any changes.

Shows parts are cut away to hold a hot glued in insert white plastic angle the full length with a foot angled toward the front.

A close up of the foot, that angles the balls back to the front shooters tray thru "X".
That piece is hot glued to the longer angle.

Shows the long white angle from the full back of the machine.

This show the back of the front where the balls go back out to the shooting tray.

just leave the reward hopper empty of balls, all will work and play like normal, just no reward balls
