Default New to pachinko via a vintage machine I found

I'd been interested in vintage pachinko machines for years and had long thought of picking one up, when I found this machine at an antique store near my house. Once I saw the "KING GORIRA" center piece I knew I had to have it. It seemed to be in decent shape, though not very clean and someone at some point kept a candle on it(!!!) as there were wax drips all down the front.

I ordered some balls from ebay, and after some help from pachinkoman.com and Dan's Pachinko Page I was able to get all the mechanical parts where they're supposed to be, and it all worked! So that was nice. It's a Nishijin B-series machine, the mark on the board indicates it's from 1977 (Showa 51).

That done, I've now started the cleaning process. This is slow going, so far I've removed the rust from the front metal and cleaned up a bunch of the playfield and outer case, and the inner components around the flipper; after that's done I'll be removing some of the pockets/tulips to give them a thorough cleaning, then taking a few hundred more q-tips to the dust-and-grime-caked back components of the machine.

I've removed the existing glass and plan on just replacing it's missing a chunk in one corner. After cleaning is done I'll tackle the electrical parts; looks like I may need to replace some wires/connections and I have no idea if the bulbs work. Then my wife was going to do some touch-up paint on the nishijin logo and perhaps some of the pockets/main attractions, depending on how it looks after the cleaning is done.

I'll post more pics after we've finished restoring it!

And in what turned out to be a really improbable coincidence, I sent a pic to a friend of mine who also likes retro things, and it turns out he just bought a similar machine a couple of weeks earlier!:
