Ball tray removal

I would like to remove the ball tray on my Palot so that I can have access to the 2 lower mounting screws on the speaker. I want to add a volume control but the speaker wires that I can get too are far to short. Trying to install a pot would be like micro surgery but if I can remove the speaker I can add wire extensions and all would be very easy. Since the machine is like a Pachinko would anyone know how hard or easy it would be to remove? Looks like a lot would have to come off to get that tray out just to remove the lower 2 screws!
