He does call it a "custom" within the listing itself.

This is by far the ultimate Elvis slot machine for the ultimate fan! We have held nothing back with this custom machine and we are very proud to put this on ebay! This baby not only is fully Elvis themed throughout including the reels and middle section but it even plays "You Aint Nothing But A Hound Dog" by the touch of a button (THE ACTUAL BUTTON IS IN THE 2ND PICTURE FROM THE TOP ON THE FAR LEFT SIDE)! It will play the first 20 seconds of the song. You dont even have to be playing for the sound to start, if you just want to show someone you can touch the button and the sound comes right out of the speakers! This has not been offered on any of our custom machines ever before! We are also including on this machine a bandit arm that is already installed, thats a $124.99 value.

looks like someone took the idea for a sound chip and hooked it to the single bet button (since it's useless anyway ) and the sound amp .will probably sell pretty well it is unique .....

Okay, scruples mean nothing and everyone thinks it's fine to not give a damn about anything but yourself and lining your pockets is cool!

Then no one is going to complain when I start charging a fee to log into PachiTalk...

No reason I should give a damn either...

For only $125 more you can have a crappy slot arm installed on any game you buy from him. This isn't even an IGT or Bally arm, looks real cheap.
The scary thing is there are already 2 purchased.

As long as it is stated these are custom and not original sell em what they want. A 'collector' should know these are modified and the average Elvis/NASCAR/Budweiser fan probably don't care as long as it is made well, and looks good with flashy lights. A guy at work bought a cruddy pachislo locally to give to his parents for their basement and I told him it was a lame machine but he said as long as it plays and has flashy lights they will be happy. I was happy and proud when I bought my first ones looking back they are weak in comparison to the others I now own.

The vendor clearly states the machine is a custom. How much a custom departs from the original game is not necessarily the issue here.

For example if a VW beetle is customized and comes out looking like a dune buggy do we get all in a dither because it now looks like something else that VW never made?

On the other hand, if the customized VW is described by the seller as a product of VW that was sold by VW from it's dealerships as it currently appears (looking like a dune buggy), then we have a case for misrepresentation. This is partially the situation when the seller says the machine came from Japanese casinos ( a misnomer, as Japan has no casinos, but only pachinko parlors). This is important because this particular dealer then says the machine he is selling plays the same as those in Las Vegas casinos.

A pachislo customized with auto reel stop and a slot handle could more closely approach this comparison but it would never have the pedigree of a genuine US casino slot. Even IGT who for a brief time made pachislos in Reno for export to Japanese markets (before setting up their Japanese pachislo facilities), never made a US casino legal slot for use in Japanese "casinos" since casinos as we know them in Las Vegas, do not currently exist in Japan.

As a point of interest, IGT does make a slot with a "skill factor " for use in one Indian casino in Cherokee, NC. This particular game allows a respin by the player after the initial spin results. The "skill factor" is that the player can respin the reels if the doesn't like the results of the initial spin. The skill factor boils down to the player being able to recognize that a winning combination did not occur and pressing a button to re-spin the reels in hopes of one occurring on the re-spin. No eye shooting is possible.

In summary, the eBay ad is truthful in the game description as being a custom, but takes liberties when describing it as playing the same as a US casino slot.

I see a lot of different custom machines modified by various folks and sold at a fairly large markup. I have to wonder if these people are following all the licensing and copyright laws. You can't just take someone's image, paste it on a machine, and sell it without getting proper permissions and paying for the right to sell the image. I'll bet if someone put Disney images on a machine, they would be sued before the first Big Bonus was hit. Do these people really follow the rules? I doubt it.

This has always been the problem, no one does any licensing of the images. If they tried, they would never be licensing, for the up front cost is way to high.

Well said Dennis and thanks for the additional information. Who wants half a container full of 3rd rate pachislo? Anyone ? Didn't think so.
Work on them, sell them, provide jobs and income to a few people. Spin some BS on Ebay. I think they should be as truthfull as possible, and not describe these as american slots.
I personally have no interest in buying one of these, making one for myself maybe.
