Default anyone use Dvorak keyboard layout?

it's slow going, but I'm trying it...

    Introducing the Dvorak Keyboard

I expect to be doing a lot more keyboard work, so I'm hoping not to flare my repetitive stress again (which is why i don't usually use caps, either)

well, I figure exercising the old brain cells is a good thing... and although I'm slow, it does seem to be putting most of the work on the home keys and stronger fingers

question for me is - will I be able to do both in time?

indeed. since Dvorak was for English, then why use it for any other langauge?

dr dvorak et al. did quite a lot of research to develop the layout and the fastest typists use this board (record is over 200 wpm... I can't even read that fast)

think I'm up to 10 wpm now

    hey compirate

i copied the following from this website Introducing the Dvorak Keyboard
    Tenets of a successful layout

Dvorak designed his keyboard with several principles, including:

    • Letters should be typed alternating between hands
    • The most common letters and digraphs (pairs of characters) should be easy to type — on the home row
    • The least common characters should be on the bottom row.
    • The right hand should be used more, since most people are right-handed.

    The Problem

The keyboard language problem has two parts:

    • Non-English languages often use special characters and diacritical marks that almost never appear in English. English Dvorak keyboard layouts don't support these language features as readily as a language-specific layout, if at all.
    • While it seems likely that the benefits of Dvorak make it superior to QWERTY-derived layouts for many languages, the fact remains that it was designed for English-language typists. Others would probably benefit even further from a layout similarly optimized for their own language.

so, it would make sense for the french to have their own keyboard too

Yeah DVORAK has a more natural flow than QWERTY but it's like the metric system in the U.S.of America no one really wants to change .
