Another Vintage Nishijin - with Dragons? Let's ID it...

Hey all,

Ok, on my never-ending quest for a decent, local machine, I had another offer sent to me.

I see some staining issues, and there are only a few balls, so I would offer $15 - but here are the details:

The owner had this in his attic for 30 years - he wrote:

"Here are the pics... It needs a good cleaning from the years of dust.
there is a little surface rust on the chrome. The frame is solid too.
There are a few balls in the machine, I'm not sure of their condition,
I'll look for more. years ago I hooked it up to a 9v battery, and it lit up, I didn't get the manual or key so I never figured out how to play it.

I bought it in 1978 from some store that was going out of business,

If interested make me an offer."












There you have it. Should be pretty easy to ID from the unique dragon/allgaors in the center. I am researching now as well.


Any thoughts? Is $15 good for a fixer-upper? I think so. I am not sure what he expects - I have not made an offer, as I wanted to wait to talk to you "exerts" first...

interesting center piece there look really cool except the head off of both dragons are broken?? there both broken in the same spot so it might be for movement but i doubt it... i think there just broken.. bummer

looks like a std kida model "B" machine the ramp cover is also missing off the back.. an easy pices to make custom or buy a replacment

looks like the glass/plexi is proken as well... and some water sains on the cell face..

poor machine has had a rough life of sitting in an attic and non play

The owner looked into the machine a bit more and wrote:

"I took a closer look at the stains, at 1st I thought those were roll marks from
the balls, but they are stains. I opened it up and found a few metal pieces
that were rusty... I took some 409 on a rag and cleaned up some of the surfaces..."


So, it went from Perfect condition in the original email, to this...haha..


I told him I would pass. I don't even want to take the 40 minutes to drive out there.

I don't think that's too bad a machine. the dragons are unique, but there is some staining on the face (don't let the seller use any more liquids on the face, or there will be more staining)

the back of the machine is missing the ramp cover (easy to make one) and the cover over the jackpot mechanism.

if this is a first machine, you could learn a lot from this one, and I'd offer $25.

add on a little bit for balls, since they cost 4-10 cents each now.
