    Default Gamera problems

I just got a Gamera and seem to be having a couple of issues! I have sent an email to the guy on ebay, but haven't heard back yet.
1st issue...None of the outside light seem to be working, meaning the flashers on top and the sidebars.

2nd issue..The wheel on the far right is making a grinding noise, not the typical spin noise.

3rd issue...The glass where the wheels are visible seems to have a slight marking inside. Is there a way to get that cleaned or better seald?

    Thanks,
    Millermaster1

Is it the Gamera High Grade? (video screen with window in middle to see the reels)

As for the reel Grinding, Make sure it isn't "cocked" When open you will see Three black knobs above and under each reel. Pull the reel that grinds out a little and re-seat.

The lights is probably a loose connetion. Trace all wires, and re-seat connectors on all.

Ok, I got some of the lights to work! One set of door lights is completely disconneted, do I have to remove the screen to get at the plug? I also was able to stop the wheel noise, but had another question....Do your wheels seem not so centered? Mine seem off a little and not really centered?

    Thanks

    Hi millermaster1,
As far as being centered...I assume you mean left - to -right. After opening the door, You will see a silver screw below the reels. If you loosen it, you will be able to slide the entire reel assembly left or right a quarter inch.
If you mean that the reels don't stop on the center of a symbol all the time, this is common in pachislos. One way to fix this, is to clean the stepper motor of each reel. I have a machine that does this (Space Battleship Yamato) and It really doesn't bother me, so I leave it.

As for removing the screen, First check the very top of the inside door. You will see there are two sets of wires (one on the far left and one on the far right). There about five wires each (rainbow colored) make sure they are connected firmly in the plug on the top of the door. When you follow these wires, You will see they go down each side of the screen and back up behind the screen. I am pretty sure these wires are for the light sequencing on each side of the screen. If they seem OK, then it will be necessary to remove the screen and check there connections.

    I hope this helps.

Still some isues...I now have the reels centered and now I 'm getting the grinding noise back, I guess I will have to mess around some more. They just seem cockeyed and leaning on an angle...
Have you ever replaced any of the bulbs in the door? It was quite a challange just getting those loose wires in!

    Thanks again for the help

Gamera High Grade uses LED's in the door, sounds like your machine got banged up a bit in transit.

I am expecting the parts from birdbrain in a few days. As soon as I recieve them I'll post and see if I have parts that will help you.

I have had my Gamera High Vision LCD for about six months and really enjoy it. I am still getting surprises on the screen from time to time. The most recent suprise action was the pair of stingrays swimming in Gamera's area. My favorite battle sceen is when the battle leaves earth and continues on the moon. I am looking forward to the Godzilla version.

I have not tried LCD adjustment on the Gamera HG, I'll look at it this weekend and see what can be done about the brightness.

I've cleaned up the outside as much as possible...it just seems a little dull. I have a MUMU delux and that screen just pops! I haven't been able to find any LCD adjustments

    Thanks!

Took the LCD screen off today and did not locate any adjustment for the brightness.

    I'm out of suggestions!

    OK - I do have a suggestion...

Did you clean both sides of the door glass and the LCD screen surface? 3 surfaces total.

Be carefull cleaning the LCD screen surface, use a soft lint free cloth and something simular to laptop screen cleaner. A micro fiber towels work well for this.

That is very possible...I will get inside and disconnect the LCD to get under and clean all the windows.

Anyone have any easy steps in replacing the lights (or LED's, not sure) on the lower right hand side of the game?
