There a few cases like this turning up in the uk recently dont know weather its a case of hackers revenge or some one is making some big mistakes

Wouldn't this be Bank Fraud?? I read somewhere that a person is in prison for this same thing... Knowingly accepting overpayment from malfuntioning ATM..

the bank has every right to go after that money.

people are greedy and think they can get away with it.

its theft---plain and simple!!!

if I got to much I would return it and expect the bank to make up the error if I didn't get enough.

When the bank is in error they still treat you like you stole the money.
A friend of mine went to the ATM to get some cash out, $400 to be exact.
The machine did not spit out the cash, but it printed the receipt for the transaction like it had happened.
It was during normal business hours, so he went in the bank to tell them about it and they told him "it could never happen" and "are you sure you didn't drop it?" and the typical BS company line.
After arguing with them about it for 20 min, they said he could fill out some form requesting an investigation.
Long story short, he got the money back about 2 months later but he had to jump through hoops to get it back.

So when I see a story like that, I say "cool, the little guy sticking it to the man".
But I would be too chicken myself to get in line like those people did
