    Default Anybody got E.T.?

I checked (tried to, anyway, but since ET is only 2 letters, it doesn't work for searches; and E.T. turned up nada) the posts here and the Museum and didn't find anything for E.T. Just curious as to what folks think about it.

Well, based upon that rousing response...I guess I'll have to answer that one myself...just as soon as it arrives, that is. After reviewing all the machines TA had listed, and reading the reviews here, I decided to take a shot at E.T. after holding off a mad dash to the finish of a Vally Gaming auction. All in all, I'm satisfied with how the auction went, considering it comes with 1,000 balls. Now I'll be able to compare the condition of how this machine arrives with the one from SlotUSA. Looks like Sam & Paula are getting into the inkos.

Well, after ours arrives, we can compare notes, AC. The one thing at least that TA made clear in his review is that it uses the original soundtrack, something that he found to be a big plus.

I have E.T. and the music is nice. The game play isn't the greatest but it is cute. What I like most about this game (because it is unique) is the option to change the video when you first start playing. There is a change hole (much like a payout hole) that you have x amount of seconds to get a ball into that will change which video is played. Overall, this is not my favorite pachinko but when it came time to pick and choose which machines would have to go (due to over purchase and lack of space) I decided this one was definitely a keeper.

Good Luck with your new machine!

IMHO, E.T.=bad but I heard the manufacturer couldn't get the full license for this one.

I don't know. But from what it shows at TA's site, it looks pretty authentic to me.

Now I thought the knock-off shows E.T. using a cell phone and of course they didn't make cell phones when that movie was made.

Sure they did. But since it was alien technology, only aliens had them. It was supposed to be a big secret, but someone let the cat out of the bag. So, really, E.T. was one of the first to introduce the whole cell phone/phone home thing. But what with people being so suspicious of aliens, the government had to try to figure out a way to introduce it so average everyday folks like us wouldn't freak. And now that it's been such a long time, I guess it's okay to talk about it openly now.

I didn't say that the manufacturer made an unlicensed machine, but that they probably couldn't purchase the full display license for the movie.

Perhaps this is why the soundtrack is played but the screens during the spins are cartoons. The only actual footage of the movie is seen as snapshots during the bonus sequence. Sounds like a partial license to me.

Interesting. That seems to be something TA left out of the review. I'm curious to see it in person now. It sounds a little like Nobunaga, where the music is great but the video part is more like a slide show.
