    Default D-Day has arrived....

OK...D-Day has finally arrived for hubby and I to quit smoking. We are going to throw a little party for two.....smoke a few cigarettes, drink some wine and watch something funny on the tube. At bed time, we will cut up whatever cigarettes remain and slap a patch on. I am loaded with mints, gum, hard candy and even plastic cigarettes (1 menthol for me and a regular flavored one for him) just for the tactile part of withdrawal. Anyway, the point of this thread is for me to be accountable to someone other than myself. Keep your fingers crossed for me.......Oh, and Tulsa...keep your finger very close to the censor button...I may be out of sorts for the next few days

    Thanks!

Good luck, Dawn! Cold turkey is the best way. You'll be rid of this thing and be so happy in the end.

    Smile Re: D-Day has arrived....

I'v done the same, I enjoyed smoking but hated the coughing and hacking. Ended up getting the 757 flu on the red eye from vegas. So after spending a couple of days in bed with the flu I quit smoking. No withdraw because of being sick with the flu and not smoking. A month and a half and still counting. My biggest problem is when I go back to vegas in Feburary with all my friends and drinking,it's really hard not doing one without the other!!

    Cheers,
    James

The other thing to do is every day put $5 dollars in a jar and this way you can save up for something great. If you go back to smoking you got to give the money to the church.

Me I am saving up for a penile implant Could not have it when I was young, I am going to have it in my old age

Good advice. I wondered how you were doing, Greg! I knew you'd made it past the hardest hump, but the cravings will stick with you for a long, long time. At least they did for me. I dreamed for years about smoking and would wake up upset because I'd broken down and smoked until realizing it was just a dream.

I have a great way to vent your anger.

Tel-a-marketter, I tell them what I would do if I was standing next to them and my black phone even blushes. And I don't hold back, maybe they will leave me alone.

Go for it dattia. At least you have someone to help you. In a relatively short time you'll be so glad. Good Luck.

I quit cold turkey 24 years ago, that was the second time I quit. Do not start back up, it is a lot harder the second time. Everyone should quit smoking, after you are away from them for awhile you realize just how nasty smoking is. Now, for what you no longer spend on smokes you can use to buy Pachislo's. If that ain't incentive I don't know what is. You go girl, good luck to you and Mr. Dattia
Pachislos: Alien, Azteca Returns, Death Valley, Guts, Gamera HGV, Hokuto No Ken, Jet Set Radio, Mephisto, Oasis, Speed Racer, Surprise, Twenty Seven, Thunderbirds, Wild Wolf
Pachinkos: Blooming Field, Casino, Freddy vs Jason, Horror Mansion, Indiana Jones, Julie, Lucky Boat of Seven God, Popeye, Spiderman

    Way to go Dattia!!!

I will give you a sheep for every week you make it, and when you get 52 sheep you can trade them in for 1 squirrel!!!

And not just any squirrel, but Larry the squirrel.
Larry has a degree in bussines management and is a world renowned chef!!!

So if these incentives don't get you to quit, I don't know what will.

    Good luck!
    Here's one to start with.
