    Post Importing pachislo

When I first learned about pachislo, I couldn't understand how the machines could be so cheap. After I ordered one, I could understand it even less. I couldn't see the dealers could possibly be making any money.

Being a curious person by nature, I decided to try and find out exactly how much profit they're making on each machine. The answer appears to be "not much."

I contacted a couple importers and priced a 40' container, replete with around 480 machines. Now considering that the dealers we buy the machines from are cleaning them up and making sure everything is working perfectly, they must be spending some time on each machine. Based on what the dealers are charging and what the importer charges, the profit on each machine is pretty low.

Here's the letter I got from the importer:

Thank you very much for your January 9.

Some vendors have buyers in Japan selecting machines for them to fill a cointainer. they get better machines that way. and usually better prices,
The buyers deal directly with the palours and get better deals.
The logistics of buying a container from Japan yourself are staggering, and if customs decides there is a problem all is lost.

Unless I am looking at something totally different I think there is pretty good money to be made. I am flying to texas and driving a truck back with 170 machines in a couple weeks that are coming from Gaku.

Take just tokens for example, they average on ebay for around 0.048 each and only cost about 0.03 with shipping. It should be easy to sell at least 250k a month if you sell auctions for 250, 500, 1000 at a time every hour lets say 8 hours a day. Once you take out ebay and paypal fees it should be around 3500-4000 profit a month, and thats tokens alone!

Now machines- With the price of the actual machines, driving a truck back, transformers, ect. it looks like I will average about 76-80 a machine with all different types from basic to premium, of course I will need to clean them myself. While not all machines are listed on eBay that I am getting from Gaku the ones that are listed average for around 130 each, so about a $50 profit before your fees.

Of the 170 machines I am getting there are 47 different titles, and if I want to work my butt off I can get all of them on eBay in 7 days. If you do the math I would say that a pretty good week.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Good luck, sellyourstuff. It sounds like you have a good positive attitude. You'll need that and more. And, if you treat your customers right, you'll make some money and have fun, too.

Thanks slotter! I will hopefully be launching a website and selling on eBay within the next month or so. I dont want to rush anything and make sure we have everything perfect before we start selling. And hey if anyone is looking for an ipod let me know or check out my auctions at sellyourstuff2 on eBay. I have been selling them for a couple months now. Looks like I am adding pachislo to my products!
