I understand how to install them, but what exactly are they doing. Is there a knob on the unit to adjust the volume or are you just reducing it to a tolable level? I can't tell by the picture. Need to know fast cause I'm thinking of buying 20 of them.

The ones I install come from radio shack, they are like a littel tiny knob that turns the volume up and down. I think Tulsa has a diagram of how to install them if you want to try a couple of them out. They are very cheap and are an easy fix for some machiens that are just ridiculously loud! ANother thing about them is the controls are very touchy, you cna turn it just over a 1/2 inch sometimes and the volume will be gone, so you have to turn them very slowly, a good tiem to test one is when its in error mode or Big Bonus mode. That way there is sound coming out at all times!

You solder them in-line. Generally people use them to reduce the volume, not adjust it on-the-fly. You use a screwdriver to adjust the volume.

You cut the positive side of the speaker wire and solder the volume control in. Very easy.

Those volume controls are good. But remember. They are a set and leave alone! They are rated for only so many turns. They are good if you plan to keep the sound at a constant level. If a lot of people may play them and need to adjust the volume to there needs or have kids that you may need to turn down the volume at times then they may not be the best solution. Then I would go with the volume controls that Gaku sells. If you don't like the idea of putting holes in your machine, either by the token tray or on the side then you can mount them inside the machine. Just open the door and adjust them when the need arises. They can be glued on with a hot glue gun ether onto the wood side some ware or on the inside of the door. Just make sure they wont be in the way of anything when you close the door or start the reels.

Great thanks alot I picked up 20 of them. I'll still have them in the "louder" area, I just want to slice off a few DB's. We all know how loud these suckers are on the lowest volume. I just wasen't sure about increasing/deceasing the volume with a screwdriver part. Would have been nice if they included that in the description. Thanks again.
