How are the balls collected in parlours?

I've been looking through the site and have seen many pictures of the back where the balls go and also many pictures of pachinko parlours - but never the back of the machine at a parlour (they seem to be built into the wall). So it has left me wondering what happens to the balls behind the machines in the parlours? Are they just run along a gulley where they are all collected centrally?

In terms of loading - is that all done by the player or, again, does there need to be a system in place by the parlour?

They are collected in the front well of the machine which can be emptied manually (scooping out with your hands) or released out by a lever which opens up a hole on the bottom of the well, then deposited into a box just below the well.

I was thinking of the images that I saw in a thread with a ball lifting mechanism which seemed to have the balls dropping right around the back - so these are usually run around the front to that well you mention?

I'm sorry, I think I misunderstood your first post; I think you're referring to spent/shot balls right? Those balls are collected at the back of the machine and that area is hooked into the parlor's main ball handling unit (a really huge machine with a system that feeds balls to machines all over the parlor).

In my last post, I was referring to balls that are collected from the machine during payoff/jackpot rounds.

It's not a pretty picture but here ya go:



The blue trays at the bottom catch the balls from the machine. The big chrome thing in the middle is a ball lifter/scrubber/distributor. The chrome square races emminating from it go to other aisles. The grey boxes with the white stickers at each station are the control boxes for the CR units: http://www.gibisans.com/Ball_loan__C...e_writing.html . This is an actual unit from this parlor. The tube you see in the middle is for emptying the ball lifter.

No problem Rupan777 - I haven't yet got the pachinko language to be clear! Yep, those spent balls were what I was wondering about and that clears it right up for me. The amount of metal balls in one of those parlours must be mind-blowing.

That whole rack in the first pic holds 24 machines (12 per side) and was up for sale in Japan for a few hundred.

Thanks for the pics! That poor woman - getting crushed by thousands of tiny balls can't be a good way to go. I hope she got to collect a toy on the other side...
