    Default new member... help

Hello, new member that just got a mr. magic "type A" ?? it uses quarters and i got it up and running. I have a key to the front door. I have a few questions..

    2. I can turn it on with the 2 switches, and fiddle with the switches up top (toggle, and a button??? ) what are all of their functions.

    3. I put a coin in and flip the arm and the reels start.. and when i push the buttons.. NOTHING HAPPENS.. and about a minute and half later the reels will stop on there own and pay if it wins or do nothing if you lose.. what gives??

Thank you in advance.. i really like my machine and hope to buy more.. thanks.

    Welcome, jtars10!
I agree with RK, for a first step.
Can you post pictures of the switches you mentioned?
Check my member page here or...

Temporarily, go to youtube.com and search for BudgeRahe for videos. Until I get the links set up in the museum

The concept of PachiTalk was to bring together anyone and everyone who has a passion for these amazing Japanese creations. Once you stepped through the doors at PachiTalk.com, you become part of the Pachination.
You are no longer Japanese, American, English, Italian, German, etc. (If I missed you I am sorry). You are now considered a Pachinational, put that on an application! We are all one big entity amongst ourselves and our Pachis. Segregation is not our philosophy and the seperating of diffent cultures will not happen, we are one, under the Pachi Flag.
We are the United Nations of Pachiland....
If you got any questions, just post it in the forum for the type machine you got and picture help too. and we will do our best to help you.

And where are you located? As a new user some people are WAY to freaked out to start unplugging things to look for problems. If another member is close they may be available to help out.

Or I could just be silly craving personal contact with the community instead of just e-contact.

Blue button is the reset button, you have a short somewhere to blow the fuse

Hmmmm Blowing fuses. Not a good thing.

Too bad you don't have another machine to see if it's a bad power supply or something in the machine itself. I must admit, though, that I'm surprised the thing powers up and spins the reels with a blown fuse.

I'm nowhere near FL, but if you ever get up to the cold cold WI I'll take a look.

You know, just to make sure.... Does the fuse HOLDER say what amperage fuse it takes? As I look at mine, they are all 15A. Maybe someone put a tiny fuse in there and that's why it keeps blowing. So if you look on the holder for what size is supposed to be in there....

    Just a thought.

And I like that machine. I have thing for the older models.

im a genius and checked the fuse by putting a screw in it... that blew something.. it fliped the on off switch on the power supply and i restarted it and it still works.. i must have a short somewhere.

Good Lord be careful. Shorting out across fuse terminals isn't a good idea. EVER.

Umm, yeah the screw idea I would shelve at the moment. When you say the fuse you found was by the reset switch were you talking about the blue switch on the door or the reset key on the power supply?
    Meanwhile, somewhere in Oklahoma.

Ok, let's get to some SAFE testing advice....

#1) Did you find on the fuse holder what size fuse it is supposed to take? It may well be a 1A, but all of mine are 15A, so I still wonder if someone put in the wrong fuse at some point. Confirm this 100% before pursuing any further testing.

#2) Once you have the right size fuse, disconnect all of the connectors from the power supply. There could be several, so be sure to get them all. Then plug in the machine and turn it on. If the fuse blows, you have something going on in your power supply. If it doesn't, it's something in the machine itself.

#2b) Assuming the power supply is ok and doesn't blow anything by itself, turn the machine back off. Plug in ONE and only one connector. Turn the machine back on and see if the fuse blows. If not, turn off, plug in one more connector, turn on, see if fuse blows. Keep doing this until the fuse blows. This will identify which connector is causing the fuse to blow.

Follow the wiring harness from that connector to where it goes. It could be heading to the reel assembly, out to the door, up to the main board, etc. This will give you a much more targeted area to be looking for problems.

I'll stop there for now. This method should allow you to determine if the power supply is bad or if something is shorted in one of the various components of the machine. Report back as to if it is the power box or what component and we'll go from there.

And stay away from the screws. There is only one place for a good screw and it ain't in a pachi.
