Question Any Machine - Automatic Reel Stop

Any Machine - Automatic Reel Stop

When you start the reels spinning and leave them alone
    they will stop by themselves.

Has anyone heard of any kind of Bonus being hit.

    the reels will eventually stop,

but I don't think it's good for the stepper motors to do this too much.

It won't really matter if the stepper motor is run continuously. The main difference between a stepper motor and a regular motor is that the strators are wound individually and each of the seperate windings is exposed externally so that you can control with a fairly high degree of precision how fast and far the motor turns. Internally, they are constructed the same way as any other electric motor, so the only real problem you could have is that the stepper motor could not stand up to the heat of continuous duty and it's likely such a motor design would not do very well in something such as a pachislo which can get almost 100% duty in a stuffy parlor. Since these particular motors do not have to exert any significant torque to turn the reels I'd put failure of the stepper motors almost very near the bottom of the list of things to fail in a pachislo.

There are plenty of examples of high power high torque motors configured as stepper motors that really do some hard continuous duty work. The segway is an example of such a device. Each of the two wheels is driven by a large motor that is essentially a stepper motor. Many battlebots also use drive systems or weapons systems driven by stepper motors.

Thumbs up Re: Any Machine - Automatic Reel Stop

    Thanks gork

Just got back from searching and you are correct.

as soon as I saw that they were wound individually
not like a regular motor and some of the examples
it kinda answered it's self but
You were right on the money
