Default New owner - Please help me ID my Aristocrat machine

Somebody gave me a pachislo recently as a birthday gift. Although after doing some investigation, it's probably not the machine I would have purchased for myself, but it is a lot of fun to play and a pachislo compliments the various other games in my gameroom. Perhaps some time I'll get a machine that is in better shape, and more what I want but until then I want to cut my teeth on this unit.

It is a 5 reel machine with baseball players and samurai graphics on the outside reels. The belly glass seems to have been replaced with a nascar/looney tunes graphic as some kind of cheap conversion. Does anyone know the original artwork, or is it possible to get an original belly glass? The partial conversion bothers me. I'd rather either have a completely reworked machine like dapperdan produces or an original unit. Ah well! If a belly glass to send the machine back to 'stock' available and this machine is not really worth anything (likely) then maybe I'll consider putting together some graphics for a conversion. I'd really like to put together a pac-man to fit in with my other machines. Is there somewhere that will print films for me since I dont have access to a suitable printer?

The best I can tell is that the unit is an Aristocrat and is a slightly older max bet machine (when they still had the vestigal 1 and 2 con bet buttons). Am I right about this?

I plan on cleaning it properly, adding an external volume control so I don't go deaf and power switch and then probably I will add an auto stop/credit board to simplify playing it at home. I was going to do things properly with an impedence matched control, but I'll probably cheap out with a potentiometer instead...

Also I'm interested in knowing if anyone has a rule sheet for this game? I understand the big bonus game but that's about it -- seems there are little mini games like baseball and something with the samurai and the little trampoline looking deal (seen in the photo) that have an objective -- and I have no idea what it is!

    Thanks in advance

It's called a Kyojin no Hoshi. That's the 2002 model. You can find some information about it in our museum. Check the navbar at the top for the link to the museum. Then just do a search of this name or choose the pachislo category and select Aristocrat and you'll see 12 of their machines listed.

Thanks; I had seen the Kyojin no Hoshi machines and figured it was probably in that series. I guess it is fairly common then for the same model pachislo machine to ship with slightly different graphics? For instance, in this case the museum picture shows primarily red graphics while mine are primarily green, and the reel graphics on the outside reels are a bit different too.

Yes, it's common to do that on popular models. The face glass is what I was looking at to determine if it was the same unit. When most people do a hack job on a pachislo, they fail to change out the face glass. While it's a different color scheme, it's the same glass.

Yes; now in searching I have also found a blue version of this same game. Where can I ask to find if a replacement original belly glass is available somewhere? Surely whoever is taking these out of machines to put in the nascar graphics isn't just throwing them away?!? But probably they are...

Ah too bad. Well anyway I'm bitten. I'm probably just about to buy a second machine but from Milt this time so this one can go back in the garage

You could get an original bellyglass from most any vendor if they have a damaged machine in inventory.

Have you taken the belly glass out? I saw a machine almost like yours and the original belly glass was behind the fake artwork. It never hurts to check. Ask your buddy who he/she purchased it from (Ebay?) and email the seller and ask if they have the original artwork. Good Luck!!

    DiskDevil,

No; I have not disassembled it far enough to check this, but I looked pretty closely and if the original is behind there, there must be a heck of a diffuser between it and the replacement artwork because nothing shows through! Still, I'll double check before ordering a replacement.

I did find a vendor that has a belly glass. I guess having a machine that was fairly common is a good thing! I must admit when I first got this machine I did not think I would like it... until it startes spitting out coins in the big bonus game I don't really think that I did! I guess I'll be getting a few more and then probably a pachinko too

    Well It's settled - I have ordered a 2nd machine already.

I knew when I bought my first pinball machine I would end up with more. Fortunately for me pinballs are very very big, very expensive, and there is not an overabundance of new stuff hitting the market to really desire. Pachislos and pachinkos are rather small and very inexpensive (considering what you actually get) so they are going to be around my house a long time. I love to tinker too, so the possibility to make some custom machines or muck around with the electronics is pretty enticing.

When I was a kid, my neighbor had a pachinko and I used to play it a lot and really liked it. I can really envision having 2 slots and a pachinko in the gameroom and several more in the garage to rotate in and out of the house. I'm glad to have found a great community that supports these machines too! Thanks to everyone who replied. I am fully up to speed now I think.

Neo Magic Pulsar from Milt who also had the belly glass I was searching for. Couldn't resist. That screen is too unique and cool and everyone who has one seems to like it. My game room is kind of magic and casino themed anyway, so that is the other reason I picked the machine. I have a Theatre of Magic pinball and an antique poker rolling ball game - Jolly Joker (Williams, 1949)

Tony: yeah I saw your review yesterday after finding out what my machine was for sure. I'm still a little confused on the bonus games, but I have been playing without sound recently until I put in a volume control, so that is taking away from figuring it out I'm sure.

Zeron: When my machine gets here I would be happy to shoot a video for you. If detail is what you're after, how's 1080i HD sound?

Haha I'm already making my lists now too. Beast Sapp has made it for being totally hilarious and bizzare. Hope I don't find too many more that I like!
