they show black families constantly on CNN taking stuff from stores so this gives the impression to the viewers that it's only black families taking stuff. The media stirs up a lot of ethical problems in a time like this when they are the least needed.

Here's a thought, let's use that wasted space that most any town has for some tent cities. What wasted space, you ask? Golf courses (sorry Tulsa). Here is some cleared land, already to be used, lets use it.
Oh and on a side note....Buffets for all!!!

Well Doo, I am glad you got your thoughts out in the open! This board is made up of members from all over the world, obviously there will be many, many opinions about all aspects of life. Whether it be politics, religion, traditions or even Pachis. Of course everyone needs to keep an open mind about others opinions, after all, they are only opinions. Soley the property of the owner. There have been many times on this board that I have felt uncomfortable about particular posts, and there have been times where my posts have offended others. I really don't think we are about offending anyone here...but at times it is bound to happen.

Just this morning I found out that I must have the word "Democrat" tattooed to my forehead. It was a surprise to me because I didn't realize that I was "obvious". Being a Democrat on this board can be a little scary sometimes...not only that, I am a Democrat that happens to speak Arabic! Double whammy! (although I must admit that my Arab husband is a staunch Bush loving Republican).

My point is this, we have more in common than we have differences. Tolerance of others opinions makes this country work. As adults, I believe that we are quite capable of maintaining relationships based on our commonalities rather than our differences. and Doo, I love you even if I disagree with an occasional opinion.

    Thanks Dat!

I see you just had to take a swipe at hubby & all other Bush folk with the "loser smiley". Thought no one would catch that among all that baloney about peace, love & no war for oil, huh!?

Hey dattia, I know where your coming from. I'm also a Democrat and an Eagles fan so It can be scary here some times.

What I find so great about this place is how so many different people from so many different places with so many different opinions can be brought together by the toys we love and create a place that really feels like a family.

Ive always thought we should set up communities on these bases for our abundant sexual predators that cant keep their hands off our children.
Let them have each other within the confines of the razor wire never to be released among the rest of us ever again.
Unless of course we ever open the sexual predator incinerator. Then Id be for that!

    Military bases?
    How about luxury liners!
The government has chartered three Carnival cruise ships for six months, to house refugees.
I honestly don't know what to say about this one.

I guess it would prove more problematic and labor intensive to take a closed military base and make it operational. A cruise ship is fully operational immediately and pretty much self-contained. I've heard many people mention the use of them...especially since a few were used to "house" guests for the Super Bowl in Jacksonville last year due to the lack of sufficient lodging. Of course, the users were charged dearly for these accomodations. I think with the criticism that is rampant right now about the response time...they are looking for something that is immediate. It may not be the right solution, but it is a "now" solution.

I saw a woman being interviewed about her stay at the Superdome and her current experience at the Astrodome. She is thrilled to be at the Astrodome and says she is being treated better than she has ever been in her life. If she can make a comment like that, she is very appreciative of the help that she is receiving and it is a bit of a sad commentary on her life if this is the "best" she's ever been treated. This is a woman that would be ecstatic to be placed on a luxury liner.
