Kiagumi is a middle man so there's an up-charge. This guy is selling direct. He is also offering a tad bit slower shipping at 5 to 7 days with a fixed cost of $280. Must less than Kiagumi.

I have no idea whether or not this guy is trustworty but we didn't know that about Kiagumi either before we used him. He does take paypal, so you have that protection.

I'm glad to see someone else from Japan entering into the mix, if they can deliver.

First as Paypal will tell you, once money is shipped out of country, there are no charge backs, if problems.
The transformer is the china made 3 or 4 amp no thermal cut off.
Insurance claim on damage will take about three months through post office.

A point to get the EMS down to $280, he is cutting way back to all most nothing for packing, to cut weight and size.

That's a very good point, Arby. Something like that just doesn't sound good with these new machines.

Also, I believe that they use a 4 to 1 stepdown transformer over there... to take their 100v down to 25v. Close enough to 24v. But put that on our 120v here in the US, and the output will turn to 30v with that ratio. OUCH!
Not only will that little transformer be running hot trying to supply the extra current, but the regulators in the power supply circuits will be working their butts off, too. There's a risk of shortening the life of each, not to mention the safety issues from a possible meltdown/fire.

I mean, OK... these are "gambling" machines... but only the foolish will gamble with their lives OR the lives of others!

I had one of those crap out and melt down just running it to a load on my work bench
It got hot enough to have to stuff in side coming out. and I don't know what it is, but it smelled bad. The meter reading showed a 32 volt and raising till I unpluged it.
That is why I only use USA made 6 or 8 amp (depending on the machine) with a termal breaker inside.
So if you buy a machine with the yellow china made transformer, spend the little more and get one, Mitl has them and their is a listing in gen. links
