That sounds dodgy. Have you tried a reset?

check all your connections, unplug them and then plug them back in.

It seems like a bad connection somewhere.

Don't feel that way! None of us knew anything about these machines until we got our first one.

Now we have PachiTalk so we can help each other!
Check my member page here or...

Temporarily, go to youtube.com and search for BudgeRahe for videos. Until I get the links set up in the museum

I think the only time I have seen the LCD go blank is when there was an error. But since it makes obnoxious noise I doubt if it is that. So what the gentlemen have suggested above is the best guess. After that check the connections to ensure they are seated.

    I think luckydog's link is a Pachislo link...don't fret...

By far the most likely cause is one of the connectors in back worked loose in shipping. Inspect the connectors on (and in) the top large plastic box which contains the LCD electronics (clear and green plastic) in the back (with the mains unplugged, of course). See if any of these connectors isn't flush with the board. If one's loose, plug it back in. When the machine is working properly, the LCD starts immediately when the machine is switched on.

Best of luck...I've been in this spot before, and once the guilty connector was located had no further problems.

You did a major reset......... And I believe you said the machine actually works except for the screen, right? On the coin counter LED, is there a code being generated? or does it show a number? If you haven't alread, unplug and replug all the connectors associated with this board (for the screen). Please let us know how things work out for you.
