Default Captain Tsubasa CR unit and transformer recommendation in uk

Hi everyone, I bought the CR captain tsubasa pachinko by sensei R&D off auction site.
Stuoidlt, i plugged the 24v cable into my step down (220-110v) and it seems it blew the stepdown fuse (connect) to mains(240v). The pachinko 20A fuse seems intact and the 110v fuse seems ok as well.

I now noted i need a 110-24v transformer but i cant find any in UK. Do you all have some recommendations for the transformer to buy in uk20240927_150506.jpg

    Thank you in advance

Does make more sense to use a 240-24v transformer. I get mine from Farnell. They will also have 110-12/24v as well

No idea yet. I'm at work. However I can't give any advice/links till you can tell me the va rating of the machine. I expect it to be between 200 to 250. Look on the back on the circuit board covers its normally printed on one of them.

according to the picture in this auction listing its rated at 240va

    https://uk.farnell.com/vigortronix/v...24v/dp/2817701
    https://uk.farnell.com/vigortronix/v...12v/dp/2817698

These 2 are suitable. Note the voltage as wiring isn't just 2 wires in/out.
Also the 300va ones are under half the price of the 250va ones.

if you want to go nuts and power 2 machines

    https://uk.farnell.com/vigortronix/v...24v/dp/2817706

Check to see if they come with the monting plate and rubber discs.

That ebay one says its 41 watt. which is way to small.

The ones I use like in my links can be wired different ways to get different voltages. It depends on how you join the wires. Its a bit like batteries can either be joined in series to increase the voltage. or parrallel to increase the power.

    As for gauge.

240va is 10A at 24volts. so standard 13A mains flex should be fine.

the 2x 12v one is safer. because if you mess up. you don't end up with 48v

    If so.

    Primary side.

From a fused plus lead. (obviously discconected from the mains)

    Connect
brown (LIVE) from your flex to brown on the transformer.
blue (Neutral) from your flex to blue on the transformer.
join the grey and violet together on the transformer (run at 240v not 110)

    Secondary side

On the lead from the machine

one wire to orange on the transformer.
the other wire to red on the transfomer.
join the yellow and black together.

Mains voltage is dangerous. make sure the transfomer is secured and all the connections are protected.

    Thanks. I shall try.
Is there any video or guide on wiring? picture?
Or is there any pre made product for sale?
I noted my unit has a socket to plug the wire in and I am not sure I need to reuse that socket or try to find a new one for sale.

If you aren’t comfortable with wiring your own transformer; another option is buy one pre-wired from a pachinko wholesaler/vendor.

Aki at JT Comatz trading company (based in Taiwan) might be able to help? Just have to specify the voltage to them you need for your country. Normally they charge $60 (plus shipping). All the work is done for you so it’s simply “plug and play” your machine into the 24v side/outlet cord of the transformer. They ship worldwide.

The ones they sell are 8 amp; adequate for newer machines; very heavy; they don’t get as hot as 5 amp smaller transformers that come from some other pachinko vendors.

I'll say it every time. I advise against using under powered transformers to run a machine. I have had numerous issues with voltage drops causing machines to reset and heat from under rated transformers. Seems to affect the 240v ones more than the 110v ones. Maybe due to double the amount of copper in them.

I don't know of any off the shelf ready made transformers. I made some years ago. but its not worth the hassle and regulations involved with making them.

At the moment, I have contacted Aki at JT Comatz trading company and she quoted me of $60 USD +delivery for their transformer.
I am more inclined to go with the pre built one although it is tempting to built one myself.

Thank you very much for your guidance. I at the end decide to go with the DIY route following your advice. It worked like a treat. There was some initial C90 top connection error which i later found out it is related to the physical banner. The transformer did outout 27v instead of 24v
