Default Wiring tape led lights to wall adapter plug

My goal was to use this PLUSPOE 20 Watt Dimmable Driver for LED Light Strips,110V AC to 12V DC Transformer, Compatible with Lutron and Leviton Switch Dimmer https://a.co/d/5Ui27sZ
To power the 12v tape led light strip I wanted to use instead of light bulbs. It didn’t go well. I didn’t burn the house down but fried one Ac input hole plugin. I don’t get it. I had driver power plug ready for wall outlet (ac input side) with wires from the jackpot switch plugged into the L and N also on ac input side. Out the other side of the driver labeled dc output was my 12v led light. Lights came on when I plugged into the outlet and then all went to kaka when I put the seesaw in the left side down position thinking I would trip the light off. POP! I fried the L wire input but good and black.

If the link didn’t work above, I used a: PLUSPOE 20 Watt Dimmable Driver for LED Light Strips,110V AC to 12V DC Transformer, Compatible with Lutron and Leviton Switch Dimmer

The lights are also 12v. I’ll be combing the web for my mistake. If anyone knows, please let me know. Also if you have successfully adapted a power adapter to 12v led tape lights, I would love to know how you did it and with any links to what you used. Thanks! It is plenty ok to laugh at my idiocy as long as you hook me up with what will work!

Thanks! That was my first successful wiring. It was just too dim.

So it popped when the jackpot switch went from closed to open? I might be misunderstanding the situation, but it seems like the neutral (N) wire shouldn't ever be going through a switch. You need to ensure that it's always connected back to power, right?

Or maybe it's the other way around. I'm showing my ignorance here.

No, my ignorance. I interpreted the diagram that came with the transformer incorrectly. Luckily it did not blow anything. Once we threw the instructions away and wired it as you noted it was perfect. Thank you for your comment.

Sounds like you caused a dead short. Always put the jackpot switch to the low voltage side of the transformer. Don't ever put mains voltage through it.
